In this - our fifth project, we want to introduce you to a very special lens - a lens that has the potential to add new dimensions to your photography.
By design, its focal length of 30mm gives your pictures an interesting perspective. But moreover, its unique ability to display simply stunning colors, catch exceptional lights and capture glimpses of a magical moment will offer you undreamt of artistic options.
Its a lens to capture magic in your images like no other.
Meyer-Optik knows that many people merely evaluate lenses for their optical specifications. Our goal is to enable artist photographers to express what's inside them. We see a lens as a supporting tool for your photographic vision - a paintbrush to bring images from your Imagination to life which we made available for almost all modern mounts.
The new Lydith fulfils all of this criteria. However, in our prototype test shootings, photographers came back and said: Wow, this little art lens outperformed my expectations so much that we had trouble finding words to express how special it performed.
Sharpness? Contrast? Yes, the Lydith is maybe the sharpest and most contrasty lens in our historic art lens portfolio and of course, as a Meyer-Optik lens, it can produce extraordinary bokeh. But in combination with its ability to capture light - it grows to its full potential.
And we have another treat for you: The Lydith has an extremely low minimum focusing distance of 0.16m. So you can get very close to your object, while still displaying a good portion of the surroundings. If you have a lens at a focal length, you might have things in mind you want to shoot with it. But due to the Lydith's performance, you will try out setups you wouldn't have shot with any other lens at this range. Come on, join us on the journey where the Lydith takes us.
What is a magic moment for you? How do you preserve it? There are situations which you simply want to make last forever. Probably, the more special they are, the more fleeting they are or vice versa. It is maybe the most difficult task for a photographer to capture more than a reflection of reality but the underlying spirit of the moment. The Lydith is able to add this third dimension to your pictures.
The Lydith has always been famous for its amazing ability to catch colors. Colors are the central element to create aesthetic results in your images. The Lydith is able catch colors like no other historic art lens can. But see for yourself.
The Lydith's character for closeups is just stunning. Due to its minimal focusing distance of only 0,16m, it’s perfect for intimate closeups giving your shots a personal and emotional touch. Due to its compact size, it won't intimidate your subjects, a huge advantage when shooting children or anybody who is not a professional model. As a result, you will create natural, fascinating pictures so close that you can look in your model's heart and soul.
To portray people in their natural environments is perhaps one of the most interesting jobs in photography. Those pictures tell an entire story, including attitudes, moods and the spirit of a person. The Lydith is the perfect lens to take with you if you have a story to tell. It can capture little details, conveying emotion and adding an artistic touch to your pictures while maintaining a natural flavour.
Those who already follow us on social media know that we have an affinity for extraordinay nature shots. So, of course, the Lydith masters this class on an equal level. Oh boy and how it does! Even everyday scenes become magic. Look at these scenes and enjoy!
Painting with light is the very meaning of photography. The Lydith can create a very soft bokeh, similar to a watercolor picture. In backlit situations the bokeh appears like it was painted with an art brush, while the focussed object is sharp.
Therefore, the Lydith is the perfect lens to play with bokeh and to design your pictures from fore to background.
The Lydith 30mm f3.5 is built using the same platform that we used for our Trioplan 50 and 35mm lenses. Thus we take advantage of some economies of scale and can offer this breathtaking lens to our backers at a very special price. Following our design principles, this lens is compact and light and weights just above 220g.
We have set extremely tight standards in our lens design that can only be met by using the best Schott and O`Hara glasses and having them produced under the toughest quality measures. We will be using a special coating in the front and back lens that will make the lenses extremely durable and tough for a lifelong enjoyment.
You certainly can imagine that running a Kickstarter Project is only possible thanks to the help of many helping hands.
Our special thanks goes to our prototype test photographers. Their feedback of you is essential to create these wonderful art lenses.
Let us introduce a few who have contributed pictures to this campaign, ladies first
Tamara has assisted us with test shoots from the very beginning. Always hands-on, she develops tons of creative ideas from scratch. Tamara is a nature photography enthusiast, well known for her ability to see colours in her own, wonderful artsy way.
Raffaele has worked for us as a consultant photographer since the very beginning. He assists us with his direct feedback as a photographer and is one of the first to get his hands on Meyer-Optik lenses.
Firat is a Cologne based portrait photographer, who has worked with us for almost a year now. You can distinguish Firats shoots by his incomparable ability to convey emotion in pictures.
Benedikt, is one of the pillars when it comes to testshootings.
As a professional fashion photographer, he has a weakness for historic lenses. What a fit for us.

Risiken und Herausforderungen
Any new venture or innovation includes an element of risk. The Lydith is no different.
Meyer Optik has a strong and experienced team of manufacturing, photography and business professionals. We have carefully evaluated and mitigated all foreseeable risks and challenges, but may face unforeseen events. Although we have already successfully designed, created and tested the several prototypes of the lens, and each of the final lenses will be hand-made in Germany, we have not yet started serial production and will only do so once we reach the next stage of our project. Each lens is carefully made and is of high-value and we will take extra precautions to ensure each one is shipped carefully.
Our delivery dates, as outlined in the campaign, are based on careful planning and our manufacturing experience with the Trioplan 100 Kickstarter, but may change due to materials, suppliers and unforeseen events. We will ensure that we keep each of our supporters fully updated. Conversely, it is important that all backers keep us updated of their address before we ship the final rewards. Any reshipping will require additional payments.Näheres zur Rechenschaftspflicht auf Kickstarter
