Despite how exciting technical achievement is, and how much we support it, we truly see photography as an art, instead of something used only to achieve realism.
We think of photography as art with all its beauty and emotions.
This is why we have re-created the legendary Trioplan “Soap Bubble Bokeh” lenses, for their incomparable ability to add emotions to your pictures. As the last step, we will build the last chapter of our Trioplan Trilogy, the Trioplan 35+. This lens will reflect all our knowledge, our experience and our passion as a lens manufacturer.
You are very welcome to join this new exciting "soap bubble" journey with us.

The 35mm focal length is popular for its ability to tell stories, show people in their environments and capture context - the perfect documentary lens. This is why we want the Trioplan 35 to be the final chapter to complete our Trioplan lens Trilogy.
Conveying emotion is essential, especially when telling a great story. How do you capture the wind, subtle lights and atmosphere in your picture? How do you capture the spirit of a moment? Here is how our new Trioplan 35 answers these questions:

Is it a painting or a photograph? If you have to think twice as we have, you have found one of the coolest creative possibilities of this lens. The true essence of photography is not trying to recreate reality but to paint with light.

The Trioplan 35+ is the perfect travel, street and nature photography lens. A lens that captures your story in your picture. How does this actually differ from other lenses, you might ask?
Well, normally lenses for documentary photography often only focus on reproduction of the visible. The Trioplan 35+ is completely different. It can capture memories, impressions and the spirit of a situation.

Even if a 35mm lens does not seem to be the classical focal length for portraits, the short minimum focus distance of 30 cm is great to get close to the subject.
The lens is extremely compact and a very discreet tool in your hands. It helps you to stay in touch with the person you are shooting without distracting or annoying him by putting a huge lens in his face. Our test photographers were really thrilled with the portraits they created with our Trioplan 35+.

The options our new Trioplan 35+ offers nature photographers are as boundless as nature itself.
Would you like to try it for a sharp landscape shot or an artsy close up? If you cannot make this decision easily, you could simply try both.

Even if Trioplan photography is often referred to as “soap bubbles,” the Trioplan is more than just that. Did you ever think of a lens as the photographer's paintbrush - a tool for expressing creativity in pictures?
Then Trioplan 35+ will have a great chance to become your all-time favorite lens. It offers incomparable creative assets. In addition to the soap bubble bokeh, we absolutely love its ability to soften the background - a very subtle rendering, making it look like it was actually painted.
Soap Bubbles and a lot of more: Trioplan 35+ f2.8 - the first wide-angle Art Lens:
In our preceding Kickstarter projects, with our Trioplan 100 f2.8 and Trioplan 50 f2.9, we allowed photographers all over the world to create fascinating pictures with the re-construction of historic rioplan lenses, especially known for the famous and artistic “soap bubble bokeh.”
Now, with your help, we'll bring the fantastic bokeh to a wider angle.

The history of the Trioplan lenses started 101 years back in Görlitz, Germany.

The Trioplan 35+ is a brand new lens, based on the Cook-Triplet. Although, it had a predecessor, the ancient Trioplan 35mm/1.8" inch was made for Normal 8 films and was rather a tele than a wide angle lens. The new Trioplan 35+ is developed for the use on full-format sensors, but with the intent of keeping all the wonderful aspects of the original lens design. To maintain the original optical character in a wide angle lens, which is indeed a technical challenge, we have added two additional elements to the front. This is why we call it the Trioplan 35+.
Here is the technical data of our prototype:

All of our lenses are handmade in Germany, designed in Görlitz. So is the Trioplan 35+. In our short history -- the Meyer-Optik brand was revived only 3 years ago -- we have already been awarded several times for outstanding build quality.
As a result of this commitment, the new Trioplan 35+ will be made of the finest materials. It comes with a carefully anodized aluminium housing, and special coated glass lenses from Schott and Ohara. 12 aperture blades create the circular bokeh.

With your help we have been able to establish Meyer-Optik as a lens manufacturer on the market. Our lenses are all handmade, produced in small quantities. In addition, we are still a start-up in only our fourth year; every portfolio expansion -- every additional lens -- requires investments in our infrastructure. The crowdfunding project allows us to make those improvements. We invest the contributions of our backers into further projects and our permanent improvement.
Risks and challenges
Any new venture or innovation includes an element of risk. The Trioplan 35+ is no different.
Meyer Optik has a strong and experienced team of manufacturing, photography and business professionals. We have carefully evaluated and mitigated all foreseeable risks and challenges, but may face unforeseen events. Although we have already successfully designed, created and tested the several prototypes of the lens, and each of the final lenses will be hand-made in Germany, we have not yet started serial production and will only do so once we reach the next stage of our project. Each lens is carefully made and is of high-value and we will take extra precautions to ensure each one is shipped carefully.
Our delivery dates, as outlined in the campaign, are based on careful planning and our manufacturing experience with the Trioplan 100 Kickstarter, but may change due to materials, suppliers and unforeseen events. We will ensure that we keep each of our supporters fully updated. Conversely, it is important that all backers keep us updated of their address before we ship the final rewards. Any reshipping will require additional payments.
