Turns out that the Kreyos was a huge fail and to be honest, the Strata is everything MetaWatch promised to be. I have used it many times and loved it every time it was on my wrist, but as a collector of watches, I have so many that it became impossible to wear this watch often. Everybody that has a handmade automatic mechanical watch knows that this feels much nicer knowing the amount of work they have put into it. But these days, the Strata is already a first generation smartwatch and you could almost call it vintage! To bad there are no more FW updates anymore to keep it up to date or expand its functions.

Everytime I remember spending money on this, I get really angry. I even bought two..

Kreyos was a flop, now looking forward to pebble time!!

Apple watch has a stopwatch... Time to switch haha.

    7. Saleem Khan on October 28, 2013

I updated my phone from a Sony Ericsson X10a (which could run the MetaWatch app) to a Motorola Razr V / XT885, (currently running Android 4.04) a year ago. Since then, I am unable to use my MetaWatch as intended. The app crashes immediately upon any attempt to launch it. This is far from what I expected given the pedigree of the team and my past experience with the devices they have worked on.

Upgrade to 1.5 and iOS 7 sees meta watch staying connected and working smoothly...

    9. Janardan Nathan on September 21, 2013

This watch is a disappointment. I gave mine away to a small kid to play with. This is a watch that I would be embarrassed to be caught wearing.

    10. Grant on September 15, 2013

I'm getting a kreyos soon ill let you know how good it is. I have pebble and it is much better than my metawatch, at least it doesn't lock up or crash

This watch is junk. Screen contrast makes it difficult to read unless you hold at the right angle. Not sure what features are available for android but on iOS there are very few widgets/notifications. I only wore my metawatch like 5 times.. Useless IMO

    18. Michael Fisher on May 31, 2013

      @Derek Henry
Have you seen the Vea Buddy. might be worth a look, the more competition there is the better the products will get.
Your probably right abut Apple being the only people to be able to extract all the info from a watch connected to an iPhone, can't wait to see what they bring out.

    19. Derek Henry on May 30, 2013

@Michael Fisher re: the "Orsto X1"...

It seems like it adds many of the features that everyone here wants from a smartwatch, but I don't think I'm alone in saying the thing isn't pretty. I didn't see whether it worked with iOS, but my guess is no. I still think the MetaWatch Strata has the best form factor of any smartwatch I've seen with its sporty design. The Pebble seems comparable, but I still like the MetaWatch approach showing multiple bits of info at once. Hopefully the software comes along at some point.

As an iPhone owner, I'm holding out hope that they release a smartwatch sometime in the near future. Since so much of iOS is closed down to developers, Apple seems like the only company that could put out a product that could do what we all want to see in a smartwatch. There are so many articles out there saying how stupid a smartwatch is, but they don't see the big picture. I don't have to sell anyone who's reading on here, but this is what I'd most like to see in a smartwatch:
-Time at the top of every screen to allow more space for other glanceable info
-extremely rugged for use in exercising
-biometric sensors (heart rate, temperature, etc.)
      -color touchscreen
-customizable pre-defined responses for communication apps (messages, email, facebook, etc.)
      -Siri integration
-complete integration with notifications including customizable alerts
-ability to scroll through previous notifications (or all since closed/dismissed)
-more access to music player (i.e. switch playlists)
      -integrate with mapping apps
      -easy passcode authentication
-mini-apps with 2-way communication to control phone or for very light data input
      -superior battery life (?)

    20. Simon Cole on May 29, 2013

Well I'm really happy with my watch. Yes its basic but having had the I'M watch which was badly manufactured, battery was useless and apps that really didnt work on a watch, then had the Cookoo was was exactly what it said on the tin - an absolute Cookoo - useless Metawatch is the best so far. Metawatch has the most stable platform for a wearble device. Is reliable. Rarely disconnects, doesnt drain my phone and actually works as a discreet notification device. So anyone wanting to sell a Frame let me know. Guys I refer to the 20% discount offered in earlier updates. Any chance of sending a discount code because if I cant find a second hand one I'll consider buying new. Am also willing to give a very detail comparison on my experience with the three different watches in return for you to post on your website

    21. Michael Gohl on May 27, 2013

Waste of money... I dont use my watch because it not working correctly...

I am still awaiting the delivery of my watch. I am international. May I know who I can contact to check on my delivery?

    23. Janardan Nathan on May 14, 2013

I still can run any sports watch functions :(
      I can't use a timer/stopwatch function on the watch itself :(

    24. Yasas on May 13, 2013

I even tweeted BillG & Metawatch team asking about the same question as "Dennis Wu' so far no reply.

    25. Dennis Wu on May 8, 2013

months later and still no facebook, twitter, running app. woohoo! glanceable widgets are nice but it gets kinda boring not being able to really customize anything.

    26. John Merideth on April 29, 2013

Buyer beware! Be advised that if you ask to return your watch for a refund they will make it challenging and put you off and when you insist, they will tell you that they are going to charge you a restocking fee...this is from the strata that I purchased outside of kickstarter from the website. The customer service, while responsive doesn't offer many options except for fixes and features coming down the pipeline.

    27. JOSE MARIA ROSELLO RIERA on March 20, 2013

I have to mention to you update to version 1.35 and not my problem alone but desede that is consumed and updated iPhone battery very fast, usually lasting one day me perfectly at noon and now I have to put in charge, at first I did not know it was happening but decided to leave the watch at home and return to last me all day .. is a shame to have to wait another update, I was very comfortable with the clock. It is possible to return to the previous version?
      Kind regards.

Really loving the new watch face! Battery life has improved a lot along with lookups and disconnects. It's almost there....just need a golf app and I'll be happy.

    30. Charles on March 14, 2013

@ Yasas. I'm waiting for my watch to recharge before I perform the update. I received an email announcing the firmware update and it included a screen-shot of the new, full-screen watch face. I think it looks great. Here's a direct link to the screen-shot:

    31. Yasas on March 14, 2013

Anyone updated to 1.35? any noticeable improvements?

    32. Pierre Acebedo on March 12, 2013

I have to disagree with everyone saying that the watch was a "disappointment". To date, I have been using this watch for several months and have found it to be both indispensable and useful item. If you combine it with an iphone and bluetooth headset, the watch is extremely useful.

I am, however, waiting on the Martian watch which I also contributed to earlier. Comparisons between the two will be coming soon.

In general, I am very pleased with this watch.

    33. Nicholas Holden on March 7, 2013

Do people honestly still have trouble with the screen? I found it weird and hard to read for about a week but then I completely forgot that I ever had any trouble

    34. Rick Bollocks on March 7, 2013

Richard R....the Frame has the same screen and software but does look nicer on the wrist. I agree with you, the Strata has been a disappointment, the screen was a VERY poor choice. I think some folks try to convince themselves that the screen is kind of cool but its just not practical if you cant read your watch 50% of the time.

You may want to hang on to the watch because it may have some novelty collectors value 20 years from now because I am guessing only a few thousand have been sold.

I am wearing a Pebble now every day and although not perfect I have to say I am very happy with it and expect more functionality to come.

I would look again at future improved Meta products if they can stay in business, I wish them all the best.

    35. Richard R on March 4, 2013

I have to say my initial excitement did not last long seeing the watch in person turned out to be quite a disappointment it's much bulkier than I thought and I wish they spent a few more dollars on a quality display because the one on my watch looks like an early LCD very hard to read its just really awful and to top it off when you hit the button for backlighting a crappy little bulb on the top of the watch lights up WOW we can certainly do better in 2013.... Can't we?
Having spent $150 bucks I expected more and several firmware updates in and all we have for a full screen watch face is the little fish????
Well I have a Stealth watch that I just can't see ever wining a steady spot on my wrist anyone interested in purchasing it? I really have never worn just looks so cheap, I know Metawatch tried they just fell way short and I try to be a glass is half full kinda person and I have held back saying any of this to wait and see what happens but as I said for me this is just a huge disappointment.
Why didn't we have the option to back the Frame instead of the Strata???? I think they should just dump the Strata and push the Frame it has a more polished look overall but that's my opinion.
So the sale offer is genuine if someone is interested maybe we could work something out.

    36. Michael Fisher on February 27, 2013

@Ow.. My battery on the watch is better, but it seems like the phone battery goes flat quicker

    37. Ow on February 26, 2013

Anyone here noticed that their phone battery life is getting shorter with the new iOS MWM 1.3 update? I looked at usage/standby times and usage times has gone up significantly. Almost like the watch/app is using location services.

    38. Michael Fisher on February 26, 2013

      Glad to help Joanna

I did mean to say "Susan Kare" , Apple and autocorrect. :-/

    41. Anthony on February 23, 2013

My Susan Kate watch just got more expensive, $299+$20 shipping + $35 in Uk customs charges, somewhat not impressed considering I backed another in tangerine and paid no customs. Meta team I hope you can justify this cost by pushing out some great updates or some other incentive haha, off to parcel force to collect the goods.

    42. Thomas Rudolph on February 20, 2013

Get my Susan Kare today ;)

looks nicer then my optic green

      Thanks Bill and the Team

    43. Anthony on February 19, 2013

hi guys, I'm still waiting on my Susan Kare watch which was shipped to the Uk, looking at Parcelforce international track and trace states that its sitting with the UK Border agency customs clearance since the 14th feb. and no further updates since then. Is this standard procedure for it to be with them for so long or could there be a problem????? im confused....

    44. Ow on February 17, 2013

@John : latest update shows this.

      It's in private beta supposedly

    45. John Kennedy on February 17, 2013

Loving my watch, but I'm still a bit confused with the state of the SDK for iOS.

How can I add my own features to the watch? Do I need to add BT code to my existing app (an Astronomy app) and can that work alongside the existing iOS metawatch app?

    46. Mitchell Lu on February 16, 2013

      Hi ! MetaWatch team

It sound MWM V1.2 and Firmware 1.3 still can not support Caller ID with Chinese Character, more worse is the characters of caller ID is limited, I put English in the "Last name Field". While Chinese name is "First name " field in Contact I can not see the English in my Caller ID when someone call me..Does new MWM/Firmware could support Caller ID in Chinese ? If not, Does MetaWatch team plan to do ?

    47. Michael Fisher on February 16, 2013

MWM is in itunes now v1.2

    48. Dennis Wu on February 15, 2013

i doubt it takes this long for the iOS App Store to approve the new update. Hopefully it was submitted -_- still no official word on notifications or their advertised fitness integration. Its been over 3 months running v1.1
