*Due to all your support we have opened the mens and womens' Standard fits to include the GRANITE WASH by popular request!*
Momentum Denim™ is built for outdoor activities, travel, and a casual, dareful or professional lifestyle. Our jeans are made to go wherever you do: urban, mountain, or board meeting. This Kickstarter is your chance to get them below retail before they hit stores this fall.
At Meridian Line, we believe in the fusion of art, design, function, and play. We found this fusion lacking in the denim space so we decided to do something about it. Introducing The Womens' Velocity Jean, and Mens' Gravity Jean - the first jean that combines hand-crafted ART with organic cotton and performance stretch built with our Momentum Denim™.
We’ve found the ideal blend of form and function for those moving onwards and upwards to craft the Momentum Denim™. We started with a base of organic cotton for breathability. Then for its durability and quick drying properties, we blended the cotton with polyester. Finally, our most favorite ingredient: the stretch, a 2% spandex that allows freedom of movement without looking like you just stepped out of yoga class.
In 2016 designer and co-founder Benji Thrasher traveled to Asia to source the materials and production for the new apparel line. He personally toured the factory floors and visited with communities where they’re located to develop a relationship beyond just commerce. We use organic cotton and dyeing practices that reduce our impact and water waste. Meridian Line's goal is to tell an honest and compassionate story from the first stitch to the final threadbare adventure.
We have striven to keep the aesthetic clean yet distinct, however we really wanted to treat the interior as an open canvas. The inner pockets and yoke are infused with our founder Jeremy Collins' signature pieces based on the internal compass of a Falcon and a Salmon. We added a reinforced "kick-plate" in the cuff with an art hit for an eye-catching accent when rolled up.
*Note: Granite wash now available in both Men's and Women's Standard Fits as well!
OUR STORY : From his studio, exploratory artist, author and climber Jeremy Collins (left) started selling signed prints in 2010 under the name “Meridian Mapworks” which quickly overwhelmed his capacity to keep up with orders. In 2014, Meridian Line™ was born and within the year the graphic tee and accessory line was a nationally recognized brand, appearing in Esquire, Outside, Men’s Journal, National Geographic and numerous Holiday Gift Guides.
In early 2016, Jeremy met with noted fashion designer Benji Thrasher (right), whose long outdoor apparel career recently saw him as lead designer for prAna. The two had collaborated on projects for years with other brands, but knew that as a team they could take Meridian Line™ to another level.
Risks and challenges
We could have launched our apparel line months ago but wanted to make sure everything was perfect and go with denim first. We didn't want to take risks with our customers’ money, so we delayed until we had fabric and samples perfected and ready to go. Our team has a proven track record of design and distribution and we have everything in place to deliver once we are funded. Our greatest challenge will be keeping up with demand, luckily our manufacturing partners are some of the absolute best in the industry.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
