Memoirs of an Angel is a horror/fantasy comic book series that follows a broken and bitter demonologist on a quest for revenge who gets caught up in a cosmic war that's been raging for centuries.
Issue Five of Memoirs of an Angel (Into The Fire) is the first of a 5 issue arch that will make up the content of Volume 2 and it picks up right where Volume 1 left off.
25 years before Jonathan travels the dark and treacherous lands of The Grey, we follow a boy trapped in his own mind by Xexus, an ancient darkness with an even darker purpose. Two members of The Order of Michael--, Moriel and Akalian--, have been sent to converse with Gabriel in the Southern Territory of Earth in hopes to rescue the boy from destruction. Meanwhile, Mattia, a cleric in charge of the boy's case, has taken it upon herself to travel to The Grey and find her old master, Obadiah, in hopes of saving her client from euthanization by The High Council…
Memoirs has been a passion project of mine for over 15 years now. It is ultimately a story about becoming who you are born to be by living for a purpose beyond yourself. It's about family and learning to trust a community of people around you. It's about sacrificing selfishness and learning that only then can you find the true purpose in life. And it's also about what happens when you can't do those things. When you don't measure up. When the answers aren't easy and the endings aren't happy. The world of Memoirs shows us that there is a real enemy who wants to destroy the good things in this life and a real hero that leads in the fight against it.
Since 2015 my wife, Robyn, and I have been actively pursuing and creating Memoirs of an Angel and bringing it to life. First we self published the first three issues of the series in black and white and then with our first Kickstarter campaign, we compiled the first four issues into a fully remastered full-color trade paperback.
All the funding from this Kickstarter campaign will go directly to printing/shipping the books and other rewards for all our backers. Any excess funding will be directly used to continue producing the series as well as adding more comic cons and book signings so we can share Memoirs of an Angel with more and more people.
Brian Rodman: Creator/Writer/Artist of the series. I have been creating comics professionally since 2015. I've had short stories published in anthology books such as: "LCS' Tall Tales & Little Lies," "Legends: Myths & Not So True Stories," "Sagebrush & Tumbleweeds," and "Rebel Rouser Comics" as well as self publishing the first four issues of "Memoirs of an Angel". I also have the privilege of have the first trade paperback of Memoirs of an Angel successfully funded through Kickstarter.
Robyn Rodman: The Manager behind "Memoirs of an Angel." This series would not be possible without her direction and expertise. Robyn has experience in accounting, finance, and business. She is currently the accountant at Louisville Mega Cavern/Louisville Underground. Robyn has taken on a new role as Visual Editor of the series. Every panel and page must be approved by her before being completed. She also happens to be my lovely wife :)
Reed Mitchum: Grammar and Story Editor of the series, Reed is a dear friend and has been a part of Memoirs' history from the beginning. MOA began over 15 years ago and Reed has acted as story editor from that point forward, even before the title was officially given to him. Reed has written many short stories and essays as well as running the blog website: The Constant Battle.
Luke Bray: Story and World Building Editor of the series, Luke is extremely well versed in Christian Theology, ancient culture, and is currently writing his dissertation on Spiritual Warfare and World Religions at Southern Seminary. Luke has been a cheerleader for the series for quite some time and has been unofficially in the role of helping me build the world of Memoirs since its publication. Luke was a pastor for over 10 years and currently works at Passages as the Director of Strategic Partnerships. Luke's primary goal in Memoirs is to make sure the world building is consistent and aligns with the world building "rules" of the Christian worldview which the series is so heavily steeped in. I also have the privilege of calling Luke one of my closest friends.
Risks and challenges
As a Kickstarter backer myself, I know what concerns there are about trusting someone with your hard earned money. So I have tried very hard to foresee any risks ahead of time so I can fix them before they become problems for you.
One big advantage of this project is that Issue #5 is scheduled to be completed by the end of the campaign. We have also been in contact with our printer, Greko Printing/Comix WellSpring, who printed Memoirs of an Angel Issues #1-4 and the trade paperback without delay.
This is our second Kickstarter campaign. We were happy to run a very successful first project last year that was successfully funded and all rewards were successfully delivered to our backers.
This project is my baby. I've been working on this series for years. I want you to have the best experience possible so all you have to worry about is enjoying the book and the awesome rewards, so you can then look forward to the next installment of Memoirs of an Angel. If you have any other concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me via email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or contact me through Kickstarter. Again, thank you so much for your time and pledge. I am very excited for you to join the world of Memoirs of an Angel.
