What's the Idea?
You know those ladies in Africa in debt who are in need of a cow or a sewing machine or a goat? They get the goat, then they have a goat milk business and they get out of debt. Well, this is just like that, except that I live in Queens and I need a button machine. As of now, I design the buttons, but I have to hire someone to press them for me which makes it an expensive and slow process. Getting a machine on my own is a big investment. This is where you come in and help me out. When I have my own machine, I can create any custom order along with my own limited edition designs - much faster and at a lower cost! If I can lower production costs, then I can finally make this little project profitable. :) Help me out and I'll set you up with some of your very own buttons.
(Check out the pledge list to see what kind of goodies you'll get).
What are my next steps?
There are many ideas brewing in my mind for new buttons. They involve geeky computer references, book and music quotes, patterns and more. My sketchbook is getting filled up with these ideas and it'd be lovely to print them out and make pins to make them a reality.
Where is the money going?
I am looking to get a solid machine that makes 1.25" pins. The Beginner kit costs $450. It consists of a model 125 Button Maker (1.25" Machine), a model 1629 Graphic Punch and 500 Complete Pin-Back Button Sets - perfect to kickstart my pin making business.
Which pins will I be getting?
Pledges under $25: You will get pins with existing Mellowbeing designs from the shop. If you'd like 5 pins of the same design or any variety, that's up to you.
Pledges $25+ : You can get custom pins of your design and/or existing Mellowbeing designs from the shop.
Where will you be selling the new Mellowbeing pins?
I currently sell my pins at my Etsy shop where I will continue to add new designs.
If you have questions, just ask.
