Raising funds to print the NEW photo book on Puppy Mill dogs & reprint my past photo books--on Deaf Dogs, Rescued Dogs & Pit Bulls
WHO AM I & WHAT ARE THE PHOTO BOOK PROJECTS?
I'm a photographer and author who has been traveling the country to photograph for a series of dog photo books called "The Photo Book Projects".
It all started when I wanted to help raise awareness about my deaf shelter dog Sadie (she's the cute black dog in the photo with me) Thousands of deaf dogs are put down for being deaf and it just doesn't have to happen. Then the project grew to include rescued dogs and raising awareness about shelter dogs, spaying and neutering, and then I met so many pit bulls through the project who were just fabulous dogs...and so the projects grew.
MY NEW BOOK ON PUPPY MILL DOGS
The next book, due out in November, is on Puppy Mill Survivors! I believe this is the most important book I have completed so far. It is 2012--there is no reason puppy mills should exist today! I feel strongly that the tide is turning and puppy mills will soon become a thing of the past. Things HAVE to change for the thousands of puppy mill dogs suffering daily with inadequate space, medical attention, social interaction, training and above all caring human interaction and love. My aim is for this book to spread the word about these dogs, their plight and what must be done to change things. National press is the goal!
WHY AM I DOING THIS KICKSTARTER THING?
The past projects have been a huge success. I have a great group of supporters, many who have been with me from the start, and many who have joined along the way, who believe in what I am doing and hope, like me, that the projects will bring awareness to these issues and bring about change for these dogs for good!
However, I am running low on inventory for the first three books (Deaf Dogs, Rescued in America and Pit Bulls & Pit Bull Type Dogs), and the photo books are VERY expensive to print. So, I have started this fundraising project on Kickstarter to try to first raise money to print the Puppy Mill Survivors photo book and then, if there is extra money, reprint copies of the first three books on deaf dogs, rescued dogs and pit bulls.
WHAT DOES THE MONEY GO TO?
As you will see in the rewards, I will not only be using the $30,0000 to print the Puppy Mills photo book, but also be printing some other REALLY cool and cute items too, which I'm so excited about. I know increasing the project's product line beyond books, to now include desktop calendars, magnets and notecards & postcards, will expand the project's reach to touch and influence even more people with the project's messages of judging all dogs as individuals, treating dogs with compassion, never purchasing dogs from a pet store, the importance of spaying and neutering, etc. All of the products will showcase these gorgeous dogs, their stories and help show that rescued dogs make great pets!
WHAT WILL EXTRA MONEY GO TOWARDS?
If we get above $30,000, then I will be able to reprint copies of the first three books:
* Deaf Dogs
* Rescued in America
* and Pit Bulls & Pit Bull Type Dogs
* as well as print more copies of the Puppy Mill photo book and larger quantities of the calendars, magnets, notecards, postcards, etc...
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
