Recent updates

Congratulations, Kickstarters, your mission is a success—the album is released!

What did you want to be when you grew up? An angel? A record label?

Now, you are both!

I am so very proud and grateful that we did this together.  What a gift is this accomplishment, achieved with your love, generosity, and active participation in the creation of new music!

And now, your pledge reward package delivery status update (brought to you by the Department of Redundancy Department … Bureau!):

  • Everyone who pledged to receive the full album and/or 3-song download should have received an email with your link to the high-quality MP3s (please contact me if you're sure it has not arrived after double-checking your email program's bulk/trash filters).
  • Environmentally-friendly CDs, Thank You notes, and hand-drawn postcards shipped over the past two weeks and should arrive at your door ASAP.
  • The limited edition vinyl LP is being lovingly crafted through our new best friends at Bellwether Manufacturing and should arrive in time for the holidays.
  • Those of you who ordered prints of the album art painting by the fabulous Laurie Maves will receive them along with your vinyl LP.

If you're in Colorado next week, please join us on Saturday, October 1st from 7:00–9:00 PM at Anthology Fine Art (635 Santa Fe Drive, Denver) for our Album Launch Party, where Laurie will paint live as we enjoy treats and listen to the entire album in hi-fi sound! Bring friends and family, all ages welcome.

We'll cook up more listening parties and events throughout the next year as James and I make our way around the U.S. and abroad.  Hope to see you soon!

To quote my favorite late '80s cheesy time travel flick Millennium, stealing from Winston Churchill:

"This is not the end. This is not even the beginning of the end. This is the end … of the beginning."

Much love and endless gratitude to you,

One week 'til album release! :)

Hello, dear supporters of LOVE . HUMANITY . METAMORPHOSIS!

It's been a busy couple of months getting ready for the album release—just 7 days to go! Your rewards have been lovingly prepared for mailing, though the cat was not much help with writing the many-colored thank you notes (see photo) … she mostly just rolled around on the floor like the cuddly ball of fur that she is.

Look for something from me in your mailbox soon!  If you can't wait, check out our audio trailer for the album featuring bits of the songs (below). And, stay tuned for more news about the making of our limited edition vinyl LP and art prints …

Meanwhile, if you're in Colorado, please join us for the Album Launch Party:

7–9 pm Saturday, October 1 @ Anthology Fine Art in Denver (635 Santa Fe Drive)

Visit the event on facebook for more details and to RSVP!

Thank you again for your support and encouragement.  It is a joy to bring this dream to life together with you all!

A day to celebrate life …

Hi my friends,

We're still working away on all kinds of behind-the-scenes stuff, getting the album ready for release later this year, but this update's not about the record.  Whether you're with your mom, missing your mom, or being a mom, I want to take a moment to pause today and celebrate life with you.

Aside from the sweet cat we baby to death, I don't have any kids and can't begin to imagine what it feels like, wanting to do anything within your power to somehow protect your child from all that we face in a world full of equal parts beauty and battle.  Still, I do know what it is to love and to be loved—and I know that, at its core, this is all life is really about.

It's not easy, taking care of the ones we cherish day after day, hoping our love makes the kind of difference in their lives that we have always longed for deep in our own hearts.  But it can be.

In every decision that lies before us, there is always the opportunity to choose love.

Choose love over pain.  Choose love over fear.  Choose love over regret.

Choose to forgive.  Choose to remember.  Choose to care, deeply, because—whatever it is you're wondering about right now—yes, it matters.

It is not for anyone else that you make this choice, one that may seem incredibly hard, risky, even frightening …  It is for you.

You deserve love.

This may sound awfully serious for a celebratory message.  In truth, despite all there is to be excited about in my world, the past four months have been incredibly challenging.  Not to mention, James and I are thousands of miles from our moms today, and we miss them terribly.

But as I think about moving forward on this incredible journey, with all of your support and all of the love we've been given by our moms, who dedicated their lives to making ours better—to making our dreams even possible, I am filled with gratitude.

Today we celebrate life because we are nurtured, we have all we need to keep growing, be it from the ones who have loved and cared for us, from a source we cannot even begin to describe, or simply from within.

I leave you with part of a song I began writing years ago, for my mom:

my mother's mother held me, said: "she's got piano hands"

by the time I'd lived my second year, she'd gone

grandfather played six instruments, in half as many bands

passed away long before I was even born

guess it's their legacy I'm carrying on …

Hug yourself, and know you are loved.  :)
