THANK YOU ALL FOR A GREAT KICKSTARTER
- Goal in US Dollar: about $500
- You can be a backer even if you pay with US Dollar ($)!
I will make 101 nice looking dungeon maps for you – one each and every day (just reached our first stretch goal meaning 111 maps in 111 days!).
Using a unique technique, the maps will be made as dungeon maps AND battle maps at the same time! Both versions will come complete with furnishing. Before even making the first of these dungeon maps I have spent hundreds of hours during several years developing this unique and efficient workflow. This means I can use my time creating exciting dungeons instead of battling technical difficulties. I am using Adobe Illustrator to make the maps – with some aid from Photoshop and Adobe InDesign.
- 101 dungeon maps (at least)
- Furnished maps
- Unique workflow
- Detailed dungeon map every day
- Detailed battlemaps every day
- Full color
- Suitable for printing
- Dungeon + scenario (depending on stretch goals)
I started making RPG maps as soon as I started playing RPG games – I stole some pieces of squared paper from my dad’s work and drew big maps which I filled with hundreds of monsters! This was 1981 and I was 10 years old. Later when I started to work with graphic design I soon realized that I could use the computer as a great tool to make maps.
Variety of maps
I will make a variety of maps – many dungeon maps but also castles, mines, houses, sewers, Dwarven cities. Most of the maps will be fully furnished with chairs, tables, rugs, torches etc. Each map will be fitted into a regular 8.5 x 11 paper (roughly A4 size) so that you can easily print it. Some maps can also be connected to each other to form a larger map – while other maps will be smaller.
Most maps can be the basis for your own adventures (hopefully with the aid of the furnishing) but we’ve convinced Skip Williams to write a scenario or two for us – if we reach stretch goals! See ”Stretch goals” below.
The maps will be posted on the brand new ”Dungeon of the Day” Blog (at Megaton Games). All visitors to the blog can download the maps in low resolution. Backers will receive higher quality maps in print resolution. Higher tier supporters will even get high resolution battle maps - suitable for printing and use with your miniatures!
8000 kr (about $1000) - More maps! REACHED!!
I will extend the map making blog marathon by 10 days meaning every backer gets even MORE maps!
12000 kr (about $1500) - Skip Williams will write us a scenario! REACHED!!
If we reach this goal, well known writer Skip Williams will write an exciting scenario for one of the maps. Skip Williams was one of the co-creators of Dungeons & Dragons 3rd Edition and he was “The Sage” in Dragon magazine for many years. He has also worked as a writer for many other RPG supplements (TSR and WotC etc.) and he is still a writer in the RPG industry. (This stretch goal is valid for pledge level #2 and above (Dungeon Adventurer and above).
16000 kr (about $2000) - Connectivity maps REACHED!!
This is a special map that connects some of the maps into larger dungeons. Probably this will be two to four maps (that each consists of 5-9 maps. High resolution connectivity maps for pledge level #2 and above (Dungeon Adventurer and above).
20000 kr (about $2500) - Sci-fi style maps! REACHED!!
At this stretch goal I will make a whole new style for sci-fi style maps! Everyone get a few of the maps in sci-fi style (about 10 of the maps in sci-fi style instead of fantasy style - low resolution for everyone, print resolution for "normal" backers, and battlemaps for backers with battlemaps). PLUS a few EXTRA sci-fi maps which you can get as an add-on!
27000 kr (about $3300) - The outdoor and nature! REACHED!!
At this stretch goal I will make the outdoor and nature objects. trees, flowers, bushes, stones, water texture (ponds, streams etc), old logs, rocks and more! The dungeon maps will of course benefit from this as well!
30000 kr (about $3700) - The inn and tavern! REACHED!!
At this stretch goal I will make the inn furnishing! Candles, plates with fish, meat, fruit etc, cutlery, fireplace, bowls, beer glass, decanter, wooden floor and more! The dungeon maps will of course benefit from this as well!
Final stretch goal: 38000 kr (about $4700) - The temple and church (last stretch goal?)! REACHED!!
At this stretch goal I will make the temple and church furnishing! Stone throne, holy/unholy books, ancient scrolls, marble floor, braziers, blood red carpets, pentagram, strange artifact and more! The dungeon maps will of course benefit from this as well!
Please support ”Dungeon of the Day” and make this epic quest come true! Ask yourself: ”Got dungeons?"
Risks and challenges
I have been working s a professional graphic designer for over 20 years and have the skills and experience to fulfill this project. Apart from any serious hardware problems (and consequent back-up failures) I don’t think anything could seriously hinder the project.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
