About this project
Girls with Swords is the ultimate 8-bit, high-fantasy adventure! Join a naive frost paladin, a slothful ninja and a dim-witted catgirl barbarian on the quest of a lifetime! The unlikely heroes face off against an enemy-entrenched empire in this visually stunning webseries. The girls must overcome their differences and discover the true value of trust and teamwork before their 'Jersey Shore' arch-nemesis takes the throne and creates an evil empire in his own selfish image.
Thus far, everything that is Girls with Swords has been a passion project by volunteers; HOWEVER, we want to step up our game and get some help from the professionals at Gloo Studios. This visual effects house (whose incredible work has been seen on Cartoon Network and College Humor) would allow us to increase our production value, revamp our designs and complete the episodes in record time, in contrast to the months it took to complete the pilot alone.
Here is a stylistic taste of what the Girls with Swords universe can look like, with your generous help!

Risks and challenges
Every shot in this show is a visual effects shot, and requires a huge amount of artistry to bring the environments to life. While over 65% of the budget is going into visual effects, it will be a challenge to keep on budget given the amount of compositing, animation and rendering needed. In a worst-case scenario, the show will be completed a few months later than expected, with a larger portion of shots falling on the director to composite. Having gone through the process of intensive, low budget VFX filmmaking many times before, the director is confident that the show will finish no matter what, despite any unexpected set-backs!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
