Australia Shipping

We have word that the Australia shipping hub expects to get through the Awakening shipments tomorrow (which would be tonight their time).

We are pinging EU on the expected arrival time at the warehouse. EU customs are a big more strenuous with their inspections than other harbors.

Embroidered Bag

If you are missing an embroidered bag, make sure you check the packaging. It would be packed loose. There are some reports that have them missing; others have them. We are trying to figure out what the deal is. It was such an easy pick and pack...two items. sigh.

Add-ons

As for the add-ons being in everyone's shipment. It was an opportunity to be nice to the backers. We think it is nice gesture. This was money we spent out of our profit. It doesn't devalue the add-ons or your contribution. This is a Kickstarter. We needed a certain amount of people purchasing the add-on to create them in mass. When the production numbers came through, we could produce more for a minimal amount over the cost of just producing the items for those that backed, so we did.

I guess you could be angry if you purchased it, but why? You were the reason we could give extra. Choose to be glad you were the reason the Kickstarter creators were able to be more generous.

I'm alright with the Add ons being provided for everyone, but where the F#%K is the base game from my pledge! I have a nice looking embodied bag, some nice looking Myth dice and an expansion I can't use without the base game!

Now you should "choose" to fix the misprint player boards and garbage miniature quality.

So who do we contact if we're missing the bag? I've looked through the box (actually pulled it apart) and the paper stuffing in it (actually unfurled it and flattened it as well), as well as looked through the expansion box, just in case, but the bag's missing. :/

I'm contacting my credit card company to see if I can arrange a charge back for overcharging, I could have used that money to pay for part of my overseas shipping. If you decide to reimburse me the $20 for the add-on captains then I'll cancel the charge back.

@ MCG I am glad I can be a blessing to others. Thank you for allowing me to be.

I am anticipating info about Myth. Hopefully everything works out for the best for you and the IP.

Well, I paid for the add-ons and am happy I get them. I would even be happier if I hadn't paid for them and had also gotten them, but hey, that's life. It does partialy feel like I paid for someone else his of her toys and that off course feels wrong. I'm not unhappy though, I get what I paid for an other people are happy.

Still... while I also do think it is nice gesture do of you, but it would have been better to not do it, or communicate beforehand that you were contempleting this instead of springing it as a surprise, which is bad PR and probably lead to a sh*tstorm of reactions.

Although communication has not been the best durring this KS let me say this. I paid for the add-ons, and I received the add-ons. (I also got my bag, so good one there). If other people were able to get a little something for free because I wanted the entire set, then they should be exceedingly happy! Really dosnt bother me in the least on that one.

Just the next time you sign an NDA, make sure it excludes things you are currently shipping....

I paid extra too, paid as much as I could in fact, just to help out. Very glad that the kickstarter was successful.

And absolutely nothing but good things to say about the generosity of MCG giving more to others. Even though i wasn't one of them. Glad I could help my fellow gamers get more.

Wow, so many angry and bitter people on here. Yeesh.

I paid extra for the add-ons. I am pleased to see others are able to get them now as well, for free even. Truly.

Personally I say fair play to MCG, I will get what I paid for, so what if others also get the same as a bonus, not like I am losing out. based on being happy with what I paid for what I am getting.

    14. S.Peterson on July 27

It's interesting to see such hate over other people getting a bonus. Quite telling of human nature in this community. KS is not retail. We paid to back this project, we didn't pay for a product with a set value on contents.

    15. Adam, hooplehead of brimstone on July 27

As others have said, this is real incentive to back add ons in dark Frontier.

You had a couple of viable options available to you on this and you chose the poorest one. No only did you not communicate this change up front (when you decided it), but you also interjected snark when finally revealing it. Once again, your poor communication is marring what otherwise might have been a good situation.

This isn't the first time that your lack of communication has caused an unnecessary problem, and it likely won't be the last.

Well at least 70% of people should be happy and that is the majority so........ (well besides those of us who did pledge for the extras and are happy for the other 70% so maybe it's 71%)

Don't worry @Steve my jets are cooled. I'm not angry or offended I'm happy!

As it was stated, "must be nice to be generous with other people's money" and bemoaning 'this came out of our profit'. No, this came out of OUR wallet. If you are going to throw that in for everyone, then return the money we paid for that " free" item.

    18. Andrew Marshall on July 27

Not surprised the majority of comments are negative... Kickstarters are just too messed up these days - way too much unspoken expectations that are impossible to manage... I guess I do feel a bit miffed about paying $20 extra for stuff I couldve got for free, but that money went ages ago, and I've stopped backing KSs now anyway - if I'm going to pay $100-200 for some minis, I'd like to actually walk away with something that day, not wait 12 months plus for it to finally arrive (general comment more aimed at the CMON KSs than aimed at Mercs / EE).

I think Mercs do lack something in their communication - I appreciate that if 70% of pledges also got the extras, the extra cost to make them for the other 30% is probably less than the extra logistics of separating out the different orders, but it could've been pitched better than this, which I'm not surprised has got peoples backs up - I think it's more the "I guess you could be angry if you purchased it, but why?" comment more than the gesture itself.

Oh well, still looking forward to getting the expansion - love the game, and hopefully one day I'll receive all my various KSs and have none outstanding... but some are more than 2-3 years in teh waiting.

@MERCS Yep, just went to my DF BackerKit and cancelled add-ons. Will be expecting to get them for free when that delivers too, that's how your kickstarters work now, right?

    20. scarborough1 on July 27

I can understand the frustration from some who paid the extra, as spare cash for board games can be challenging for me to come up with and every add-on decision means one less other Kickstarter backed. That said, I didn't lose anything with this choice, and my funds guaranteed that the extra captains were feasible to produce.
I look at the end result for me. I pledged, I added on, I got what was promised = win. Other people got some extras? It's happened to me by accident before, and I offered to return product, but it didn't make financial sense to the producer. This was obviously a more intentional choice (and yes, driven at least in part by ease of packing and stock management), but not one that hurts me in any way. I could've not added on, and might still have wound up with the extra captains, or not (if the funding had been too low).

    21. Jakob on July 27

I think that's a nice move. It is logistically the better choice. Less packaging errors.

I don't get the anger. I paid for addons to get them and I will.

This is a financial aid to kickstart with rewards, not an order.

    22. Craig McClung on July 27

I've got mixed feelings about this, it was a nice gesture, for those that didn't pay for add-ons, but it means I've paid $50 for the expansion, when others have paid just $30.

Even with this, I will continue to support Megacon Games.

It's easy to something nice with someone else's funds.

I also change people's tires, but I make the decision of when where and how.

I think what you are missing the point. No one is really upset that someone got a bonus. We're upset that we did not get the value promised for the extra funds.

I would suggest cooling your jets and letting this on die.

Orabbi, compairing being a good simaritan and helping change a flat and giving everybody an add on that in some of us paid for is a very poor comparison. Me being unhappy that they're giving away stuff I paid for has nothing to do with weither or not I'd help somebody on the side of the road. I'll just pull my funds from the DF backer kit and hope I get some free rewards as well if it's going to be like this.

    26. Jacob Schoberg on July 27

I don't believe for a second that this was done as an act of good will. Chances are, it was cheaper for Megacon to include them in the base set so they didn't have to worry about the logistics of packing another two SKUs, boxes, separate rulebooks, etc.

I mean, congrats if you're someone who got the add-ons for free, but if you (or megacon) don't understand why this would chafe people, I think you're being just a bit dense.

@MERCS I over pledged in the Dark Frontier project and, after canceling add ons, there is $15 credit left in Backerkit. Will that amount be refunded to my credit card when the pledge manager is locked down and funds are collected?

    28. Missing avatar

      Steven on July 27

I think what I find the most frustrating and shocking is the lack of communication and heads up about the add-ons being included for everyone, you could have stated sonetime the possibility that it could occur. You should have made the extra captains stretch goals that could be unlocked through the pledge manager and had something special for those who paid for them once unlocked. We only find out about it once those who didn't pledge for them recieve them, that is just unacceptable in my books.

Lol, try to do something nice, people get mad and offended. Don't do enough people get mad and offended. Do just enough people get mad and offended you didn't do more. I paid for the captains. I got what I paid for. Others were able to benefit from something I did helped with? Well that is awesome I'm glad I could help others. Thank you Mercs!

By the way I also stop and help people change their tires, not drive by and then put angry posts on the internet about the bad quality of roads, or faulty tire materials on the internet.

"I guess you could be angry if you purchased it, but why?" Do you really need an answer to that question? I question the veracity of your statements regarding the add-on captains, since they are included in the box and as part of the packaging on the expansion box itself.

I think this was a great decision!

    33. MinimalistCat on July 27

here's a wild idea - why didn't you quietly use the "extra" funding to produce replacements for all the people holding damaged components to your games that haven't been replaced? (i.e. fulfilling your obligations, instead of following whatever feelgood idea popped into mind at the time)

I'm sure you all had good intentions with this scheme (that's always been the problem, hasn't it?) but this was yet another very poor decision.

I'm happy everyone gets more options, but my #1 reason for paying $10 each for them was to get something extra that not everyone would have. That's what made them worth the extra money. You changed the value offering after selling them, and I feel deceived.

Now that I know you view addons as an all or none thing, I guess I'll go cancel my dark frontier addons. If they get made, I'll get them for free and save $35-40. And if they don't get made, they won't exist, so I won't be "missing" them anyway.

    35. MinimalistCat on July 27

"we took something from you to give something to someone else, without consulting anyone affected."

I've defended Megacon throughout the Myth and Dark Frontier debacles, but no more. You simply don't have a lick of business sense or a proper notion of what is appropriate to do with backer funds.

    36. Jorune on July 27

Well I'd like to thank everyone who purchased the add-on's! You helped make it possible for everyone to get them with your KS contribution. Thank you! :-)

    37. Michael Tighe on July 27

I paid for the extra ships and am cool with everyone getting them, but I'm sure you're going to get blowback.

A different campaign I backed, (Grow,) upgraded everyone to the deluxe version and a bunch of people tripped all over themselves trying to find reasons to be angry other people who backed an idea were getting something equal to what they were getting when they backed a slightly more expensive idea.

I'd really like to find out more about the future of Myth though. Good or bad, I'd like to know.

That's pretty unfair to the people who paid for the add ons, me included. You should have just had them in the expansion to begin with or not at all. I'm disappointed in you Brian, not that you care.
