Test Pressings

Dan and Brian took a trip up to Gotta Groove last Friday to hear a test pressing of the album.  Gotta Groove Records is a new-ish record pressing plant in Cleveland, OH.  They also pressed our self-titled.  Gotta Groove is a great place to press vinyl.  They offer DIY packages on recycled vinyl, making short runs of records possible and affordable.  Check them out:

Here's Vince from Gotta Groove presenting Brian with the first test pressing.

It is very important to carefully inspect and analyze the sound of a test pressing.  If it is approved, that test pressing will be exactly how the full run of 250 will be produced, so it has to be perfect.

Dan, resident band genius, carefully inspected each groove of the record with this high-powered microscope.  Nothing gets past this nerd.

After careful deliberation, we decided that the test pressing should be deemed acceptable, and gave Gotta Groove the go-ahead.  It sounds great!

Comics are cool

Here's a sneak preview of one of the panels from the full-color comic insert that's coming with the vinyl:

Who's getting torched here?  You'll know soon!

Adam from Cauliflower Audio just sent us his first pass at mastering the album tracks, and they show a huge improvement from the already great sounding mixes.

Step by Step

John G. just sent us an update.  Here is a more detailed version of the line art for the cover:

Here's what the front cover will look like:

We are very happy with how this came out.  Look closely and you might recognize a few buildings...

Just a couple more things to tweak on the mixes, and then on Friday the album goes to Adam at Cauliflower Audio for mastering.

John G is also finishing up the art for the MEGACHIP EP.  As soon as that's done, we'll be sending everyone download codes for the EP.
