October has come and gone folks and it has been one helluva ride so far.
We debuted American Dark Age at New York Comic Con which was held at the Jacob Javitz Center to an overwhelming crowd of people. That weekend brought us a huge amount of exposure and attention; from podcast interviews, rave comic reviews and ADA issue one being shelved at quite a number of comic shops in the NYC area and distributed to your very own iDevices through the amazing digital publishing company, Graphicly.com where you can read issue one right now for FREE.
None of that would have been possible without the gargantuan success of our Kickstarter campaign in August which provided us with the funds we needed in order to print the best damn comic book this side of the Comics Code Authority. Don't believe me? Read issue one right now for FREE here: http://graphicly.com/megabrain-comics/american-dark-age/1 and come back when you're done.
SO WHY HAVE WE RETURNED TO KICKSTARTER?
Other than the fact that it's the best and most revolutionary venue for finding new and unadulterated, honest art? Simple. No matter how well we did at Comic Con, we are still a small indie publishing operation and a moderately successful debut, does not a profitable publisher make. I am here to ask you for one simple thing...Help us keep American Dark Age alive.
More specifically, please pledge whatever you can so that we can pay Jacqueline Taylor, the grossly talented artist of our series, to continue unfettered and with fresh art supplies and rent money.
WHAT IS AMERICAN DARK AGE?
AMERICAN DARK AGE is the first act in our neo-medieval series told in 20 issues, which will be followed in 40 issues by Acts II & III of the series - I'll refrain from naming the titles of the other acts here to avoid spoilers. The entire series in all three acts will consist of 60 issues from beginning to end.
The story is set in a near future when a mysterious event renders all
combustion based machinery, weapons and electrical technology impotent
It is told through the eyes of Katherine Brody, a young punk singer from Oregon and her rise as an unlikely warrior in a world that no longer recognizes itself.
AMERICAN DARK AGE thrusts the reader in to this archaic landscape and asks not only who you were before “The Blackout” but who will you be after, with so much righteous destiny and sinister opportunity laid before you to be picked at with the tip of a sword.
Brody’s journeys take her and a small band of Marine Corps “Knights” from the bloody shores of California across the now harsh and lawless landscape of the United States to an end that will change the face of a nation forever.
Filled with political intrigue, character drama and ultra-violent, sword clashing battle scenes, AMERICAN DARK AGE takes a new look at the American spirit and what people can achieve or destroy when they set their mind to it.
HOW MUCH FUNDING DO WE NEED?
Each issue of AMERICAN DARK AGE costs, $2,400 to create and roughly $1,800 for a print run of 1,000 copies. Aside from our first Kickstarter campaign I have essentially bank rolled this endeavor (with my fiancees blessing), but life has caused the bank roll to deflate.
I'm asking for $2,400 to ensure that ADA survives for at least another issue, but in truth if we could raise $12,000 to ensure Jacqueline's position as artist of the series is secured for at least 5 more issues, I'm positive that would give us a shot at not just surviving, but thriving till the end of the series.
and now, everyone's favorite question and mine...
WHAT DO THE REWARDS LOOK LIKE, YOU ASK?
We've got sizes ranging from S - XXL in men's and S - L in women's shirts. Quantities are limited, so if we run out of your size, we'll ship all of your rewards to you immediately and your t-shirt will arrive a couple of weeks afterwards.
ARE SHIPPING COSTS INCLUDED IN YOUR PLEDGE?
No, but we're going on the honor system with this campaign. If you could add an extra $3.00 for domestic shipping charges and $5.00 to your pledge for international shipping charges, it would be very appreciated. Your rewards WILL BE shipped whether you add the extra charges to your reward or not, but it would be pretty fantastic if you do.
