HELLO AGAIN MEGAFANS!

The Giant Robot Duel has arrived!
The Giant Robot Duel has arrived!

The time has finally come. After 2 long years of designing, building, and testing giant robots, we are going up against Suidobashi Heavy Industry, and you can watch the showdown NEXT WEEK - on Tuesday, October 17th, at 7:00PM Pacific Time. We will be streaming the Giant Robot Duel on our newly-started Twitch channel! You'll be able to see it live here: https://go.twitch.tv/megabotsinc We'll post the Duel video to YouTube and Facebook immediately after.

The schedule for the Duel stream is as follows:

  • 7:00PM - Suidobashi and MegaBots backstory videos to get everyone up to speed
  • 7:30PM - THE GIANT ROBOT DUEL!
  • 8:00PM - Live Q&A with the MegaBots team

We can't show you the full version of what Suidobashi brought to the Duel just yet, but... suffice it to say, it was pretty epic. They gained a few tons, and a whole bunch of horsepower, over the past two years.

In case you missed it, here's the 12-ton, 16-foot-tall, 430-horsepower robot that we're bringing to the Duel BECAUSE OF YOUR HELP!

We call it Eagle Prime now, because it needed a name other than '3'. For those that appreciate science fiction-style fluff text and back-story, we're calling it a "MK3-class" robot, and this particular unit happens to be called Eagle Prime.

For full transparency, the Duel itself was held in a secret location in Japan over the course of two weeks at the start of September. We shipped a full container of spares for every part of the robot, a containerized hydraulic hose repair station from Parker Hannifin, the MK2 robot (now called Iron Glory), and Eagle Prime in 6 individual pieces. We reassembled Eagle Prime on site by speaking through a translator to Japanese signalmen, who then directed crane operators to carefully put the robot together.

The Duel was filmed to tape. Because this event was the first of it kind, we left a large buffer on the exact start time of the event, to insure that all the robots were working perfectly. The Duel itself then went for multiple... epic... rounds. Each round occurred on a different day, with repairs/refit/reset in between. Get ready for an EPIC showdown.

We've compiled some behind-the-scenes shots just for you guys below. Check 'em out!

Twas all foretold long ago; that robots would be built to battle, and perhaps , one day, battle us! Still, until then, I am torn on whom to bet on. Obviously thw winner is already in the bag, but as an american AND otaku ( anime fan) I AM TORN!!! T.T

I’m excited for this but it’s weird to call it live when it’s prerecorded

    8. Joshua Pritt on October 12

So it already happened and the live stream on twitch.tv is just a stream of the pre-recorded dual that already happened. Right?

What seems like fate is that I never hung my MK.II poster all these years up until I recently moved into my new place last week. I found it rolled up in the package. Framed it, and now the fight is on. Incredible. I'm very excited!
