A prototype is a preliminary model of something. Projects that offer physical products need to show backers documentation of a working prototype. This gallery features photos, videos, and other visual documentation that will give backers a sense of what’s been accomplished so far and what’s left to do. Though the development process can vary for each project, these are the stages we typically see:
Proof of Concept
Explorations that test ideas and functionality.
Demonstrates the functionality of the final product, but looks different.
Looks like the final product, but is not functional.
Appearance and function match the final product, but is made with different manufacturing methods.
Appearance, function, and manufacturing methods match the final product.
Risks and challenges
We've done it once before, and we can do it again.
We have spent over half a decade building OVAL's company, team and vision for a smarter sensor. And, our team has learned a lot.
We've learned how to work together better and faster, and take full advantage of our talented and diverse global team whose expertise spans so many areas.
We have also been immersed in everything from the latest in smart home technology, software and firmware development, and advancements in manufacturing a product like our OVAL Smart Home.
Our core team is committed to OVAL 2.0. Their passion and hard-work in creating OVAL got us to our first release, and will carry us to our second.
Even though the hardware, firmware and software changes in OVAL 2.0 were substantial enough to stop our production line on OVAL 1.0 and essentially start over, most of the time-consuming and costly set-up tasks relating to producing a product like OVAL are in place.
From the manufacturing facility to the back-end app development, we already have a solid base to work from.
Having originally launched OVAL 1.0 on crowdfunding, and knowing the level of transparency it requires, we have learned to better communicate with people who believe in us and support this venture.
We look forward to meeting more of you and working hard to bring you a better, stronger smart sensor!
