Research with Harvard Medical School: Due to promising findings in pilot Nightingale research conducted by Harvard Medical School, the researchers have asked to continue their sleep studies with an expanded patient sample. As research is ongoing, we do not have authorization to share the promising data yet, but Harvard Medical School’s continued interest is encouraging for Nightingale. Once the research is done, we will certainly share their findings when it becomes appropriate to do so.

ENGINEERED FOR SLEEP (Because we love sleep)
Nightingale is designed by acoustic experts and audio engineers to help create the most effective sleep system on the market. We didn't stop there. In addition to being the best product to help you sleep - we integrated key connectivity and control features to enhance usability and leverage the Internet of Things (IoT).
Nightingale can be customized to a room’s architecture and acoustics. The two-unit system offers 15 different ambient sound blankets that reduce wake occurrences by masking disruptive indoor and outdoor noises.
Unlike white noise machines, Nightingale sound blankets take into account your room's architecture (wood floors, windows, carpet, etc.) and utilize the walls to reflect sound blankets into the space from two different units, each with 2 speakers. This creates a uniform and even coverage - and means the brain can't perceive where the sound is coming from, making it blend into the background. Nightingale can also play different nature sounds to help ease you to sleep.
THE WORLD'S FIRST SMART SLEEP SYSTEM
Nightingale can be controlled via iOS and Android mobile apps, or a web browser from any PC. Automatic scheduling allows you to program Nightingale to turn on before bedtime and turn off before you wake up. It can even ramp up the sound blankets slowly over time. It is the first smart sleep system that can connect to smart home devices such as Nest, Ring, Amazon Alexa, and Philips Hue via the popular IFTTT platform. Was is hard to develop? YES! Was it worth it? Absolutely!
Nightingale seamlessly becomes part of your bedroom with pass-through power outlets, so you can still plug in your alarm clock, phone charger, and any other powered devices.
We've created a sleek and slim design that can fit behind furniture and an LED night light that comes with four different color options. You can control Nightingale over Wi-Fi from the Nightingale iOS or Android app, or from any web browser. We're even developing an API for integration into residential or business AV systems....if you're into that.
The lack of sleep is a serious health problem. The Center for Disease Control and Prevention says that "Getting sufficient sleep is not a luxury - it is a necessity - and should be thought of as a vital sign of good health." Furthermore 72% of Americans say that room quietness is important to a good night's sleep.
We ourselves have problems sleeping - so we created Nightingale, and we need your help to make it a success. There is a market full of gimmicky white noise /non-connected sleep machines that over promise and under deliver. With extensive experience in the commercial sound masking industry, we've decided to apply our skills and create a sound masking solution that reduces noise disturbances to help people sleep better. We see a great opportunity to transform the sleep machine market, and apply the latest technology (audio + cloud + product design) to create a really innovative solution.
ANTI-THEFT WALL PLATE ACCESSORY
Worried about someone stealing your Nightingale? Have a friend that "borrows" things all the time and never returns them? The anti-theft wall plate allows you to secure Nightingale to the wall, perfect for vacation properties. This is a new accessory in development. Get a sneak peak at our early prototype CAD drawings.
Configure and control Nightingale from an iOS or Android app, or from your web browser. What's the first device you touch before bed? We wanted customers to be able to quickly turn on Nightingale before bed from their favorite device (or program it so it's on auto pilot). Set-up takes less then 1 minute, and customers can create a cloud account to unlock the smart home features controlled over Wi-Fi. Or control via Bluetooth, or even manually via a hidden button. Your choice.
Nightingale App and Product Demonstration
The Nightingale app is where the software meets the hardware. It's how a concept becomes an experience. Listen to the sound blankets and nature sounds. Note, this is a video demonstration with the microphone very close to the Nightingale unit. The Nightingale will sound more subtle in person.
White noise machines emit ambient noise from one location, which is easily noticed and does not cover the whole room.
The difference between Nightingale and white noise machines is similar to the difference between a robust stereo sound system and a clock radio.
A stereo sound system has a more immersive feel than a clock radio. Similarly, Nightingale immerses your room in ambient noise to reduce noise disturbances to help you sleep better.
Another key differentiator is control. Most white noise machines have no mobile control, nor take advantage of the Internet of Things. Nightingale can be controlled from any device, and supports IFTTT enabling connections to many smart home appliances and other consumer electronic devices.
Nightingale is ideal for the bedroom, but can work in any space where you’d like to create a more acoustically pleasing environment, like college dorm rooms, hospitals, nursing homes, rental properties or hotels. It can even help mask common sleep conditions, like snoring and tinnitus.

We couldn't do this alone. We have a small team of dedicated engineers, and have built up a network of partners will specific skill sets from an IoT back end provider, to hardware designers, and a trusted contracted manufacturer. Risks and challenges
We have a proven track record of delivering high-quality sound masking products that reduce noise distractions in corporate offices, hotels, hospitals and other commercial spaces. The challenge with Nightingale is creating sound masking technology for sleep and for your home. This is a brand new adventure for us and we invite you to be a part of it.
There are white noise machines on the market that are lower priced, but cannot give you the quiet night sleep that Nightingale can. White noise machines make disruptive higher frequency noise, much like a fan. Nightingale is a sound masking machine, which means it is precisely engineered at the right frequencies and decibel levels to subtly mask noises. The challenge is bringing a higher priced, premium product to the market and convincing people sleep is worth it.
In addition to being the first true sound masking sleep machine, Nightingale is the first smart home sleep system. With that comes that challenges of Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Additionally, there are challenges in supply chain and mass manufacturing. These are challenges we are confident we can overcome with our talented engineering team, and additional funding from Kickstarter.
Nightingale is designed to give you the best night's sleep every night. If you’re looking for a cute, cheap gimmick, this product is not for you. But if you take sleep seriously and want the best for you and your health, Nightingale is for you. The challenge is educating the public and we hope you will help.
