"Sweet Rock: The Red Weasel Story." is slated to be the second independent documentary release from Media Boomtown in 2012. It tells the story of the "largest serious alternative band on the Eastern Shore" of Maryland in the late 80's and early 90's. In 2010, the members got together for one reunion show, their first in 20 years.
This is the story of the band past and present and it was funded completely by my filmmaking partner Edward Fox and myself. Where we need your help is in helping to take the message to the masses.
With your help, we hope to take our film "on tour" next year, as well as get it ready for retail purposes. All funds raised will be used in one of three ways.
1. To offset the cost of production: We will be releasing "Sweet Rock: The Red Weasel Story" as a DVD/CD combo (we remastered their old EP recorded by Simon Jacobsen of SOA and The Snakes).
2. To offset the cost of film festival submissions: We believe in our film and want as many people to see it as possible. One of the great ways to do this is through entry into film festivals.
3. To offset travel costs to film festivals: Whenever possible we would like to represent our film, network, and learn from other filmmakers by attending different festivals. With your help we can do this.
The great part about this is that the project is done. The film is edited. The Re-masters are remastered. All that's missing is you and your support. With your help we can give Red Weasel a little bit of the notoriety they missed the first time around as they just missed the 90's alternative explosion.
