“Meat Men” is a web series that shows the never before seen world of the unsung hero, the local meat man (and by ‘unsung hero’ we basically mean four down and out, ready to get rowdy, always schemin’, workin’ for the weekend, kind of guys… Seriously, lock up your daughters and hide your money).
You can usually find them at their place of business, Holiday’s Grocery Store “Where There’s Always Something Happening!”
HERE'S THE BIG IDEA:
The first season of Meat Men is scripted as an eight episode story arc. This Kickstarter project goes to raising money to produce the entire series and promote it. We need an initial $6,500, AT LEAST, to start animating Episode 1, advertise it and distribute it. Any proceeds made off of Episode 1 will flow into producing Episode 2, and so on and so forth.
As you can see by the graph below, the rewards/promotional items make up the bulk of our budget. The promotional items which will be produced will be critical in getting people interested in our product.
The thing is, although many people may be looking at this page and our video presently, we need a bankroll to advertise and market to get MORE people to see the Meat Men in action. THE MORE PEOPLE WHO WATCH, THE MORE VIEWS WE GET. THE MORE VIEWS WE GET, THE CLOSER WE ARE TO BEING PICKED UP BY A NETWORK.
The plan is to have this Kickstarter project launch the entire series towards network syndication:
After the eight episodes have run, all of the data collected such as page views, page visits, number of ‘likes’ on Facebook, specific comments, and anything else that shows how awesome this show is and how beneficial it would be to sponsor the Meat Men will be put into a pitch. That pitch will then be used to gain syndication from a network such as www.Revision3.com , www.adultswim.com, www.cartoonnetwork.com , www.funnyordie.com , www.ifc.com, or any of the other platforms this series would work on.
As you know, our goal is $6500. However, if we are to exceed this goal, we want to pile on the rewards for all of our faithful donors. So here are our stretch goals:
STRETCH GOAL #1: $7500
Every donor of $15 or more gets some added ‘swag’ – Everyone will receive an additional Meat Man Swag Bag, full of fun items!
STRETCH GOAL #2: $10000
Every donor gets entered into a drawing for one of 10 limited edition Meat Men Hoodies.
STRETCH GOAL #3: $12500
Every donor gets entered into a drawing for one of 4 limited edition pairs of ‘Meat Men Fugiyamas', customized sneakers featuring the likeness of the Meat Men!
STRETCH GOAL #4: $15,000
Secretmagazine’s Productions will release the Lost Episode: 'Meat Men go Hawaiian Style' - a full episode which will be burned, signed, and delivered to each donor!
Risks and challenges
Our main obstacle in the beginning is just getting the word out there for people to tune in. Knowing this, we are preparing ourselves:If we reach our KickStarter goal, we have a very regimented plan for marketing our show. We are based in Tallahassee, Florida and are planning an aggressive marketing campaign in town and on the internet. Several newspapers and radio stations have already been contacted regarding using us as material for stories, as well as advertising within those mediums. Also, we will hit the Comic-Con Circuit hard, promoting ‘Meat Men’ in cities throughout the southeast with fellow Kickstarter.com Alumni, Craig Shroeder http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1415773826/hit-a-comic-book…
Production – With a bankroll we can get more artists to work on each episode, thereby increasing the production value and the speed with which we complete each episode. We love Sam for all of his hard work in producing the promos, but the more artists we have the better we will be.
Timeliness – Our episodes need to be produced in a relatively timely manner in order to capture people’s short attention span. If an audience knows they can rely on the next episode being produced in two weeks, they will be much more likely to tune back in. Also, a quick turn around will speak volumes about our ability to produce content, with regard to the future pitch for syndication.
Standing out from the pack/ what makes us different? – This is not a ‘grocery store’ television show. This is about the culture that exists for the Meat Men. They may work in a supermarket, but only because that’s where the meat shop happens to be located. Seriously though, this show is more character driven and situational based. More than half of the time they will be out of the meat shop, chasing down wild situations. (However, we are planning episodes in which the Meat Men showcase their skills in meat domination).Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
