We always said we would rock it til the wheels fell off, and if the wheels fell off we'd DRAG it across the finish line. Well, as the years and miles ticked by, this became less an statement of our will to never quit, and instead a reality.
In 2008 we received a gift of $3500 from one of our staunchest supporters, to buy our very first band vehicle. A 1996 Ford E350!!
At the time we were only touring regionally so it was perfect! But, we grew up! Thanks to the support of our AMAZING fans, friends, and family we beat 5300 bands in the Nation to become the winners of the 2011 Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Battle of the bands, powered by Best Buy Music Gear. This is where the van began her trip to the OVER 260,000 miles she has on her now.
It all started with us driving from Peoria Illinois to Los Angeles to take advantage of the first of the prizes we won from the battle, recording our E.P. with Legendary Producer Jay Baumgardner at NRG Studios. Our song We Are Stars came out of that project for which Video Director Davo Paul made this killer lyric video featuring Jacoby Shaddix of Papa Roach at the end. We put many more miles on the van while touring with Papa Roach and In This Moment.
Then we took advantage of a second prize, we went on the WHOLE Rockstar Energy Drink Uproar Tour of 2012 in the Silver Bullet Death Trap as she's come to be affectionately called. Another 20,000 plus miles.
It was during this tour that we became a signed band with Prospect Park Records. What's special about this, and why we mention it, is because our only real goal ever was to tour the Nation one time. The Rockstar Upraor Tour was the achievement of that goal. Then, on top of it, we got signed in the process. A goal we never shot, but always hoped for! Then the flood gates of our touring responsibilities opened! We've traveled tens of thousands of miles in our beloved Silver Bullet Death Trap, living the dream and sharing stages with Korn, Sick Puppies, Buckcherry, Pop Evil, Fight or Flight, Avenged Sevenfold, and so many others.
What has all this awesomeness done to the SBDT? The engine had more noises coming out of it than can be addressed, making it sound like a weight lifter powering through their last set while going down the road.. We've spent countless hours replacing plugs and wires, doing oil changes, replacing pulleys, belts, alternators, and AC units. The muffler is currently held up by electrical wire. The front bumper is hanging on by 2 small bolts on one side and rusted beyond repair,
the shocks had holes in them and were replaced (thanks for the help L.P.),
the running board on the passenger side is completely disconnected in the center and rusted beyond repair,
the rubber bushings on the sway bar disintegrated, the front springs and rear leaf springs are shot, and the roof leaks whenever it rains. And finally, going up a mountain with the trailer behind her, she barely breaks 30 miles an hour anymore :(. Our poor road dog needed more repairs than she was worth in a Kelley Blue Book before she finally died this year.
This is where you come in!
We've been investing all of our money into writing and recording new music. Also into upgrading our stage gear in order to bring the fire live! We are nearly ready to tour again! But we desperately need a new tour vehicle. $10,000 could help us get a new funk-free van. A "Rock-it Ship" sprinter van, or maybe even an R.V. with beds, a kitchen, and a SHOWER!!! With your help, anything is possible. Touring is our heart. Meeting new people and visiting friends we've already made is the greatest feeling in the world.
This is your chance to help grow a group of crazy dreamers into the band we hope to become. We've got gifts for pledges ranging from cds to handwritten lyric sheets to performing personal shows just for you.
Take your pick and help bring M.E. to you!!!
Risks and challenges
Putting a band on the road and keeping them there is a very expensive and difficult mission. A vehicle down payment of $10,000 is just the tip of the iceberg. We have been a touring band for the better part of the last 8 years, and we have learned a lot about how to stay moving, and keep costs down. That doesn't mean we'll be successful, but much work yields much result, and we have never been afraid of work.
With your help and support, we can create a tour that screams "Rock is alive and well!" please help spread the word. Email, Twitter, Facebook. Join the M.E. Army and start an Evolution.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
