Our new site is up and we are taking pre-orders & donations! Visit standupdeskshop.com to see our 15 table top options, 2 leg colors, and 3 sizes!
We could also use all the help we can get spreading the word. standupdeskshop.com
Thanks Remi, yes we are seeing lots of interest at our site standupdeskkit.com, we are working on getting a plastics partner who believes in the project. No one wants to make pieces for you unless you order 20,000 of them. Stay tuned!
hi stand-up desk gurus : )
just commenting that there's a lot of interest out there...!
your product looks great, please keep developing and start production soon : ))
-Remi (Chicago, IL)
Thanks for checking in Remi, we are currently looking for a plastic mold injector partner to start up production with our own private investors. As soon as we go into production we will be launching a pre-order site at standupdeskkit.com. Taking pre-orders will accomplish the same thing as doing another Kickstarter campaign. Plus we weren't too impressed with the number of people Kickstarter helped us get. Hopefully we will be shipping Stand Up Desk Kits in Q1 sometime... keep your fingers crossed.
just checking in on progress... any updates? your design and idea are great.
can you please try a round #3 and allow enough time for the word to spread to raise the 30k-40k amount ...
Round #2 is starting soon! Get ready to tweet and spread the word!
Count me in on Phase 2. I would even consider helping fund as an "angel" investor .as I think this is such a great product I think it would receive wide acceptance in the marketplace.
@Alan, thanks for your support. Yes 11k is a great number. Unfortunately the lowest bid for just a plastic mold we received was 10k and would require shipping from Asia and that is just one part of the project. We were trying to keep things in the USA but it looks like we'll be shopping around even more for attempt #2. We are in the process of gathering more plastic bids and deciding the best way to cut costs while still providing a high quality Stand Up Desk Kit.
For anyone new to KickStarter, as far as the 11k, we don't see a penny of that because we didn't reach our goal. No one's account will be charged at all. It's all or nothing with KickStarter.
Count me in on attempt #2, you are already successful with 56 backers, 41 at the $250 level, that's no small cookies. Seems like you got some attention what can't you do with 11K that you wanted to do with 31K? Great idea.
Thanks Bill, we are excited about it too. We only have 3 days to go, so we're already planning attempt #2 and how to reduce our costs. We'll keep you posted.
Pace, just found your project and backed at $250, posted link and my Facebook Wall. Looks like an awesome project, can't wait to see what future versions evolve to.
@Kevin, I'd love to hear those thoughts on how to spread the word
Great Mike, yes we are excited about the many accessory possibilities as well. Unfortunately nothing will happen if we don't fund this bad boy. Lets get out there and spread the word!
Can't wait for the accessories. An 8" Monitor stand the lenght of the table would be great.I have been working with a home-built stand that has the furthest 8" of depth at 25" high and the front 13" at 15.5" high. this allows my eyes to align better with the monitors while still maintaining proper keyboard height.
Cool Pace. Thanks for the response. I just upped my pledge to $250. I think you're right about keeping the pricing affordable and like your approach here. Awesome on being an Android Central fan!
I'll get in touch with you soon. Have some thoughts we can discuss.
Hey Kevin! We are big androidcentral.com fans and may I say that is an awesome stand up desk you're sporting. Thanks for checking us out and you bring up some good points. To help someone align themselves we have a number of accessories planned for the Stand Up Desk Kit that we felt might be confusing for the kickstarter process. We were planning on offering monitor blocks finished to match your desk allowing for a monitor to be raised x inches. For those who'd want more adjustment options on their keyboard and seeing how the desk is wood we were planning on offering adjustable keyboard holders that attached to the bottom of the Stand Up Desk Kit. You also gave me an idea of a cable organizer attached to the back. We understand that everyone has a little bit different needs. I use a big xhtml reference book to raise my monitor, while Adam has all his stuff flush on the desk. Our main focus is keeping things affordable. We are half way through our project and we're a bit lower than we'd hoped… think you could help give us some traffic?
I'm a huge fan of standing desks and have been using for years. Experimented a lot with different setups.
Wrote this article on my experiences to date that's been referenced a lot on the subject around the interwebs- http://crackberry.com/standing-desks
I did the $1 backing on this, maybe will pledge again and buy one depending how the fundraising goes, but I'm just not sure on the flat surface. I've found it super critical to be able to adjust the height of the monitor independently of the level of the keyboard, and also that being able to change the angle of the keyboard tray is super important too. With this setup, as shown in the video, you're stuck looking down at a steep angle at your monitor. You only have one variable to dial in. Either you get the height of the monitor right, or the height of your hands. If you mess up the height of your hands, it becomes immediately uncomfortable.
Would love to see that addressed somehow as I like the overall premise of a good looking, low cost affordable solution.
Any pledge helps... and so does spreading the word! Please tell all your blogging friends and semi pop star relatives to check it out.
I love this kickstarter project! But as a broke college student, I don't have $250 laying around. ( I wish though, I'd totally spend it on this desk! ) I want this project to succeed, so I will spread the word! I hope my small pledge helps.:)
Thanks Kevin! I'm looking forward to seeing what design you pick for your work surface... a Big O logo? A race car? or maybe you're a fan of dragons? The possibilities are endless!
Wow! What a great idea -- wish I thought of it! I have been looking for a desk I could stand at and stay fit at work, but they all cost over $800. This can be used anywhere, and on any desk. Brilliant!
