We are raising funds to print copies of my first book Mayo the Chicken. This project means a lot to me as a cat person and a father. I want to share my art and my view of animals to the rest of the parents out there and their kids. I've finished drawing the book, but it won't feel real until I physically hold it, much like a cat.
I've been drawing my entire life, and I took the commission route. But this year I want to change that.
I drew this book for my daughter and she loves it and talks about it in school. She's the most important person to me and my harshest critic. The fact that she loves it this much and hasn't picked it apart tells me this book can go further.
If you share my sense of humor and aesthetic please back this, or share with someone who does.
Risks and challenges
With $2000 we plan on printing 200 copies of the book and distributing them to bookstores.
The only risk comes if the economy crashes and the value of paper goes up.
