"Tense, quick co-op filler. Nice combination of "try to do what you can on your own" and "try to work with others despite limited communication", with the latter yielding better results when you pull it off. The time-pressure and limited communication mean the Usual Co-op Problem (of the best player telling others what to do) simply does not manifest; even if the Communications Satellite is out there's no time for that sort of nonsense." - R. Eric Reuss, Massachusetts, USA (BoardGameGeek)
"If you like real-time games (and you know I do), here’s a quick one—each game of Meteor lasts 5 minutes or less. There’s a swarm of meteors headed toward Earth, and you have to cooperate with others to build and launch rockets to shoot them down. One of the trickiest parts of this game is that you can’t talk to each other. Well, there’s a technology card, the communications array, that lets you start talking, but until then everything is done with gestures and raised eyebrows. Even when you can start talking, it can be a pretty tricky game to beat." -GeekDad.com
"Meteor is a time-limited cooperative game for up to 5 players. The game starts with a set of meteor cards in the center of the board and players are given only five minutes to destroy them all. Players play rocket cards and then power them with one or more types of three resources so that they can be launched at and destroy the displayed meteors.
In addition to rockets there are some special ability cards. Some important ones even allow players to start discussion options among themselves. Yes, at the game start players aren’t even allowed to talk. Each game uses a small set out of a large number of meteors, most with special abilities, giving the game plenty of variability." -Matt Carlson (OpinionatedGamers.com)
"Meteor is...a Blast for me (OK, I could have said Meteor...Rocks! or Meteor...is Rock Solid or Meteor is...Out of this World). It's a fun Coop filler game that plays in 5 minutes and is easy to teach. As far as I know this is the only coop game that is also filler. I love the constant tension during the game, the simultaneous player action and the interaction between players." -Gabriel Ouimet, Ottawa, Canada (BoardGameGeek.com)
1.Shuffle the Small Meteor cards, the Medium Meteor cards, and the double-sided 6 and 7 Meteor cards together. This creates the Meteor deck.
2.Create the Meteor Field by dealing out the number of Meteor Cards according to the number of players. Place the cards face down in the center of the play area. Spread them out so that each Meteor Card be seen by all players.
3.Place the Altitude Zone Cards in descending order (5 on top, 1 on the bottom) in one stack near the Meteor Field.
4.Place five Sand Timers near the Altitude Zone Cards. Make sure Sand Timers are ready for play.
5.Shuffle all the Resource Cards together to create the Resource Deck. Give each player the number of Resource Cards according to the number of players shown on the Set-Up Chart below.
6.Choose one player to be the Timekeeper, ideally the player most familiar with the game.
Timekeeper: The Timekeeper is the player that keeps the game moving forward by performing Altitude Zone Changes and ensuring that a sand timer is always active during game play. When a sand timer runs out, the Timekeeper needs to Change Altitude Zones as follows:
Change Altitude Zones:
1.Remove the active Sand Timer from the game.
2.Remove the top Altitude Zone Card from the game.
3.Start a new Sand Timer for the new Altitude Zone.
4.Each player draws new Resource Cards according to number of players.
Meteor Size: At the beginning of the game, the Meteor cards are placed face down. The back of the Meteor card provides an approximate size, so you have a general idea how big the Meteor is but you do not know the exact size until the Meteor Card is revealed. The exact size of the Meteor indicates how much damage the Rocket needs to inflict in order to destroy the Meteor.
If the Meteor Card is face down when you launch a Rocket, flip the Meteor Card over to reveal the exact size of the Meteor. Leave the Meteor Card face up for the remainder of the game.
There are three different ways a Rocket will interact with a Meteor:
1.If the damage of the launched Rocket EQUALS the exact size of the Meteor, the Meteor is destroyed. Place the launched Rocket in the discard pile and remove the destroyed Meteor from the game.
2.If the damage of the launched Rocket is LESS than the exact size of the Meteor, the launched Rocket has no effect and is placed in the discard pile. The Meteor is unharmed and stays in the Meteor Field.
3.If the damage of the launched Rocket is GREATER than the exact size of the Meteor, the Meteor is destroyed. Place the launched Rocket in the discard pile and remove the destroyed Meteor from the game. Note that the player just caused an Overkill.
There are some Meteors that have unique Traits. The Meteor Traits may affect how a Rocket interacts with a Meteor.
Overkill: Overkill is a big explosion caused by an overpowered Rocket. This big explosion blasts the remaining Meteors one Altitude Zone closer to earth. The Timekeeper Changes Altitude Zones immediately. If an Overkill occurs in Altitude Zone 1, the remaining Meteors are blasted into earth and players lose the game. If the players Overkill the only remaining Meteor in Altitude Zone 1, the players win the game because the Overkill destroyed the Meteor.
Multiple Overkills: It is possible that the players can work together to destroy more than one Meteor at the same time. If this happens and more than one Rocket creates an Overkill, then you are still blasted forward only one Altitude Zone. Overkill does not stack. If the players manage to destroy all the remaining Meteors at the same time, they win the game even if it would have caused multiple amounts of Overkill.
Game End: The game ends when one of the following happens:
1.The Meteors are at Altitude Zone 1, the Sand Timer has run out and the last Meteor has not been destroyed. The meteors smash into the Earth and the players lose.
2.The players destroy ALL the Meteors and win by saving the Earth.
3.The players Overkill a Meteor in Altitude Zone 1 and it is not the last Meteor. The Meteors blast into the Earth and the players lose.

Risks and challenges
This project doesn't have any risks to speak of if we meet our goal. The factory is ready to publish and the art and layout has been mostly completed. Any additionally needed changes should be completed prior to the end of the campaign. We have launched and distributed more than a dozen Kickstarter Projects.
Anyone missing anything at all from any prior project please send us a message here on Kickstarter and we will get you replacements sent immediately. We have had over 10,000 backers so we expect a few of you may have slipped through the cracks. Thanks again for all of the support!
We have three outstanding KS projects at present. Hold Your Breath and Chopstick Dexterity Mega Challenge 3000 are both behind schedule for delivery but they are both in production at the factory and we will get them both delivered in the next 4-6 weeks or sooner.
A more recent project, Bling Bling Gemstone already completed and we sent out the rewards with no problem. Our most recent project, Dead Man's Draw, is at the factory and will be produced in September and early October so we expect to delivery it on time or very close to on time. Coconuts Duo overlapped this campaign by 3 days and we expect it to deliver on time too.
We have had 15+ Kickstarter projects complete and note that all but these most recent are totally fulfilled and we will strive to get this project completed and all rewards to backers in a timely manner.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
