Huge Update (11/6/2015):
We are at a real catch 22 here on this project, if we leave it as it is we will finish at around 21-22 k, not bad at all, but if we have something to motivate people to pledge these last 12 hours, well... then we could hit $25 k. Of course we need the $22.5 k and $25 k goals to be unlocked to attract those people, so what do we do? Forget it all.. through caution to the wind and hope for the best! Yep, for the last 12 hours only... the chamber of secrets is open! We are unlocking those last two stretch rewards NOW so you can all enjoy that and so we can entice other backers to jump in. Will this come back to bite us in the bottom (line)? Maybe. Do we care? Yes, but we're doing it anyway. They are unlocked, now go and share this information with your friends.
In September we launched a successful campaign for Meteor. We are also happy to report that we sold out completely of the first print run of the game in just a couple of months! Yes, that went fast! That's why we're reprinting the game... but with some serious improvements!

There is a storm of meteors heading directly toward Earth! The time of impact is just five minutes. Destroy them all or the world will be blown to bits. Meteor is a real-time, cooperative, resource management card game that ACTUALLY plays in 5 minutes or less as a REAL-TIME card game! Work together building and launching rockets as the time ticks down. Because time is so limited, the possibility of one player dominating the game is eliminated, there just isn't time!
Each player has a hand of cards and a build area. A number of meteor cards are placed in the center of the table. Players must co-cooperatively build rockets to launch at the meteors before the time runs out.
Rahdo's Gameplay Runthrough:
As you can see the icons are similar but have much improved over the first edition of the game. Yes there are 30 less cards here, but we have stretch goals to add some of those back in (see below).
Look ma, no sand timers! We just had to offer Meteor at a price where everyone can put it on their game shelf. Basically, Smaller box, no sand timers and less cards = better price. The good news is that almost EVERYONE with a phone has a timer built in, everywhere you go. It is SUPER EASY:
Iphone: Swipe up from the bottom of the screen to get to the quick menu, select the "clock" icon (between the flashlight and the calculator), then press the bottom right corner icon for "Timer", set it for 0 hours and 1 minute and hit START. That is it! Super, super easy and you never need another sand timer again for Meteor!
Android:Just access your clock and then select the timer icon.
There are TONS of secondary timer apps on the IOS and Android Markets, it is very easy to download and use them! Why pay $10 more for the game just to have sand timers, chances are you have several timers from other games or just use your smart phone.
If you do want sand timers or the larger game, we have that option for you too. Prior backers can also pledge for just the cards and rulebook to update their existing copy. We will be reprinting these along with the new version!

"All in all, Meteor offers a fantastic, interesting 5 minute game, packed into a 2 minute rules explanation. Shut Up & Sit Down can happily recommend Meteor. It’s kind of a sweet counterpart to Hanabi. You’re still working together and fretting about which rockets to fire into the air, but it’s as high-octane as Hanabi is thoughtful. While we normally like to offer nice stretch goals, those come at a cost. We are keeping things very simple here with just a few stretch rewards IF this does really well. We have priced the game at $25 based on less cards and no sand timers, but IF the project does well then we can print more copies, save more money, and use that savings to add more of the original cards back into this smaller game!
So let's face it, we have had a lot of previous KS projects and all of the games have been successful. You'd think by now that we would be "set" and not need to do Kickstarters any more, right? Well, not so much. While Mayday has been successful, we are still a very small company, just 5 employees! All of our cash is tied up in other projects. In fact if you look at our history we introduced just 3 new games in 2010 and 2011 before Kickstarter. Since KS we have had nearly 20 new games, but that is ALL thanks to backers like you. By doing the KS program we are able to gauge interest and get the game made in much larger quantities and with cheaper prices to our customers. This is a large part of why we can offer our last few KS projects at such a low price point. With this much stuff in the game and such a small company, this would only be possible with the support of the KS community.
Note: The below is for the mini box version of Meteor only, the large box version of the game is $7 to ship w/in the USA and $15 worldwide. This is because the game is larger and heavier and we don't get nearly as good a rate on the larger box to ship it to you.

How are we able to do this? Well first of all, the game is light weight and durable so the game will fit easily into a bubble mailer. We are also shipping ALL THE REWARDS outside of the USA directly from our fulfillment house in China to you! That means the rewards will get shipped quickly and efficiently.
What about "EU Friendly" or "Canadian Friendly"? Will I be getting hit with a big customs/VAT/Duty Bill?
We can't guarantee you won't be hit with a bill, but we can assure you that the actual value of the rewards being shipped to you is low, lower than the $10 USD VAT/CUSTOMS threshold for even the strictest countries. We are covering $4.54 of shipping for EVERY BACKER already, so the true value of the game is going to be less than $15. That is because we will state the value of the reward at our replacement cost. We aren't sure what the retail price will be yet, so we can't even put that on the shipment, though we are leaning toward a price of $25 USD or more. This is part of why we are limiting rewards to one per backer, because this is a light-weight shipment and we can't ship two copies together as cheaply as one copy twice!
We can say that we shipped Viceroy directly to several backers in the EU and to all our backers in Canada via this same method and none of them got hit with duties/customs, and that game was worth a lot more. We won't guarantee you won't be hit with some fees/duties, but we are 98% sure you won't.
Will my shipment be traceable? I want a tracking number when it ships!
No, your shipment will not be traceable, it will show up as a first class package through your post office and those do NOT have tracking numbers. We can say that your reward will arrive in 7-20 business days after it ships. We can send you a screen shot of the shipping notice and confirm that it went out if it doesn't show up, but there is no tracking number.
But I want a tracking number!
Ok, OK! You want a tracking number, fine! :) If you want a tracking number than you can pay a little extra on your shipping service to get a tracking number. Here are the rates:

Wait a minute, did you say a BUBBLE MAILER? Not so fast, I want a box! Don't you dare ship my rewards in a bubble mailer!
Hey, we are quoting very cheap shipping here because of the weight, and this specific game comes in a nice sturdy box. It is tough and we expect it will be able to handle the rough ride through the mail. Shipping the game in a box will add about 150 grams and another $0.30-0.60 in packaging to the cost of your shipment. Sure we can do that, but it will cost you. If you want your reward to ship in a box rather than a bubble mailer, here are the rates:
Shipping Box Add On:

What if I want my rewards shipped in a box AND to include a tracking number?
No problem, just add both the costs for the shipping box and the tracking number. The totals to add on would be

Risks and challenges
This project doesn't have any risks to speak of if we meet our goal. The factory is ready to publish and the art and layout has been completed. Any additionally needed changes should be completed prior to the end of the campaign. We have launched and distributed more than 20 prior Kickstarter Projects. .

We have just three undelivered projects right now, Click Clack Lumberjack (about 2 months behind), Mow Money (looking to be on time) and Garbage Day, which is due out in March but we hope to be a month or more early on that project.
This year we have delivered on the original Meteor, Hold Your Breath, Dead Man's Draw, Coconuts Duo and Chopstick Dexterity Mega Challenge 3000 and Viceroy, all of which were late. We have Click Clack Lumberjack already a month or two behind delivery schedule, but expect it to arrive to backers in November. Mow Money looks to be on track and Garbage Day will in all likelihood be early to backers.
