This game is already going NUTS everywhere BUT the USA, check this crazy video out:
Here at Mayday Games we have a special love of Korean board games, especially dexterity games. We signed our first Korean dexterity game in Seoul Korea back a couple of years ago when we began distributing Tok Tok Woodman and then Click Clack Lumberjack in the USA. But when we saw this game we just KNEW it would be perfect for us and our fans!
Contest for free "Coconuts" game
If you aren't plugged into BoardGameGeek you should jump over there and check it out, we are running a contest there, you answer some questions about the game and are entered into a contest to be one of 5 winners of a free copy of the game, including shipping to you! Please note that if you win the contest we can just bundle that free copy of the game in with your rewards from the KS campaign, no problem! Check it out HERE. Please note the contest ends in just 3 days, so get on it!
Just see what others are saying about this hilarious dexterity game:
"Coconuts is one of my most-played games of 2013. Sad b/c I'm not playing much else; giddy b/c the game's so darn fun." -Eric Martin, BGG News Twitter
"Wow. this kicks Tok Tok Woodman's butt. The bouncy coconuts make this 5 game a big fat 8+ Too bad i only picked up two copies." -KrisVerbeeck (Belgium) on BoardGameGeek
"Games like Coconuts tend to fail because the central gimmick (in Coconuts' case the coconut catapulting monkeys) rarely work well technically. Here the gimmick works perfectly, shooting is a perfect balance of skill and luck, and Coconuts takes it place alongside Looping Louie as a rare entry in the "this really should be a childrens toy but actually it's a pretty fun game" -genre." -Mikko L. (England) on BGG
"1x 4-players game. Quite fun game at the spiel. Maybe a bit long, for what it has to offer, but we really had a great time ! Lots of laughs we attracted a lot of onlookers. on top of that the game is quite cute..." -Fabericus (France) on BGG
"...An excellent action shooting game with great components." -ByTurn (Korea) on BGG
"Very nice working dexterity game: you have to shoot the coconuts into the cups. The catapults (which looks like monkeys) works very well and that's the keyfactor here!" -Tero Hyötyläinen, (Finland) on BGG
"The funniest agility game ever" -Jakub Polkowski (Poland) on BGG
"This is the new loopin' Louie in our gaming group!" -Legolias (Netherlands) on BGG
Dice Tower Review of the Game:
The instruction book in English, German and Korean will be posted here soon, but this game is very, very easy to play in just a few steps:
It is really as easy as that, watch some videos of play and review of the game too:
First a word on shipping. The game weighs in at 910 grams, but with any shipping box at all it will be pushed over 1 KG (over the 2 lb mark so each package will be weighed as 3 lbs for the USPS or other shipping service). This is heavy from all the amazing monkeys, cups and more. The game will retail for $36 USD but we are offering it here at a significant discount for you backers, but we do have to charge shipping as that is a big, big cost for us. Please understand that even the USA backers must pay shipping. The good news is that your 2nd copy will NOT cost you extra shipping.
We also need to clarify that we cannot ship this anywhere but the USA for retailers/distributors, we only have the USA license and are only able to ship outside the USA here as a special preorder until the end of January. After the KS is over you will have to go elsewhere for this game if you want it as we are the US licencor of this game!
OK, now back to why we are on Kickstarter.
Somehow we missed Coconuts at Essen in 2013 but saw it at BGG Con along with a bunch of other "geeks" and like everyone else we were clamoring for a copy! Well we just found out that there is a very, very short window to get any copies of the current production run to the USA and that any reprint after this HUGE print run might be a long time down the road.
If we want to get this game to the US market we have to act fast, but more importantly put our money out NOW. So what is with this goal of $14,180? That is EXACTLY how much we need to secure the shipment of this game NOW and get it to us in time to deliver in April to you our (hopefully loyal) backers. We just don't have that kind of money laying around with all the other projects and restocks we are working on now, so without your help it just won't happen. We will be able to pay for the boat shipment, the shipping to you backers and all of that, but it is the cost of the game that we really need, and right away. In fact, time is so short we don't have time for a full 30-day campaign. We need to get this money in this month (January) or we won't get the game at all.
We really need your help on this one more than ever before, so please help us out and pledge now!
We know, Kickstarter backers LOVE stretch rewards! This project funded on 1/19/2014 and the $20 k stretch goal was reached on January 25. We can't believe it but the $25,000 goal was reached on January 27! Everyone now gets the following with every copy of the game:
- Early delivery: We will ship your copy of the game three weeks before we send any remaining copies to distributors or other (non-backer) retailers. This means you will have it before ANYONE ELSE... no monkey business!
- Discounted price: The retail price on this game will be $36 USD and to ship such a large game is going to cost us a lot, so we are giving you a great price on the game because we appreciate you!
- 2nd Copy Opportunity: You can get a 2nd copy of the game for even less than the overall price of the first copy since we will ship your games together. Pick up another copy for a friend or loved one, and save!
- + 2 Bonus Brown Coconuts for the $20 k Goal: For every copy of the game you pledge for you will also get 2 bonus brown coconuts thanks to our $20 k stretch goal! WOOT!
- + 2 Bonus Green "Special Coconuts" for the $25 k Goal: For every copy of the game you pledge you will also get 2 bonus GREEN coconuts thanks to our $25 k stretch goal! Double WOOT!
- Special backer-only bonus offers for more coconut offers, and more great add-ons including Click Clack Lumberjack and its golden core/axe expansion!
There are already 36 coconuts in the game, but in playing the game for a few days at the Hong Kong Toy Fair recently, we lost 3 of them. Well ok, "lost" meaning one rolled somewhere where we couldn't reach it and 2 of them were snatched off the table by some German guy who thought they were free chocolates on the table. Seriously, he popped them in his mouth and took off. He never came back but I assume he didn't eat them in the end. Don't worry, the game and the bag of coconuts are clearly labeled as a choking hazard, but seriously be careful with kids, the coconuts look tasty, even to adults!
Stretch Reward #1 -$20 K -REACHED 1/25/2014!
OK, so what better bonus than to include 2 extra coconuts with each copy of the game we ship out if the KS gets to $20 k? Perfect!
Stretch Reward #2 -$25 k -REACHED 1/27/2014!
Want more? We hit $25,000, with a little stretching, so EVERYONE who backs this project will get a bonus of 2 green coconuts! That is right, not just one as was our previous goal but TWO of them!
The Green coconut can be used as a variant for extra fun. What sorts of variants? Anything you like, maybe the first player to get a coconut in a red cup gets the green coconut that counts as double points if it lands in a cup, if it doesn't then the player to the left gets it, and so on. The player with a green coconut in a cup in front of him only needs 5 cups to win not 6. Maybe the green coconut is unlocked by the first player to get to 3 cups, then the next player to land a cup gets it, or maybe the first player to steal another players' cup gets the green one... there are tons and tons of variations to be had with a single coconut of a different color.
Since we hit the $25 goal in the final 4 hours of the campaign we did not add any more goals, but did add a last minute offer for more coconuts for backers who want them. The brown ones are $0.50 per coconut and the green are $0.75 per coconut, but since we have to have pledges in full $1 increments you need to get the brown ones 2 at a time (for $1 for 2 of them) and the green ones for 4 at a time ($3 for 4 of them).
We recommend a $5 pack add-on to your pledge, that will get you 4 more brown and 4 more green coconuts so you have 6 of each in total thanks to the stretch rewards. That is enough to theoretically add a 5th player OR have lots of extras in reserve for all your crazy coconut flinging for years to come!

Risks and challenges
This project doesn't have any risks to speak of if we need our goal, the factory is ready to go so if we meet our goal then the game is going to happen and happen quickly. We have launched more than a dozen Kickstarter Projects and have delivered on all of them except for our most recent which just ended in December 2013. The only undelivered project is called "Hold Your Breath Card Game & 3-in-1 Walk the Plank & Get Bit" and it's projected reward delivery date is April 2014. We are finishing up the final artwork now and hope to deliver on time!
Our other recent campaign was Click Clack Lumberjack and it was projected for delivery in Sept. 2013. 95% of them were delivered in September including all USA shipments, but we had some logistics problems internationally so some of those shipments didn't come in until October and in the case of Singapore and Brazil it was even later than that. All of them did eventually get delivered though!
Anyone missing anything at all from any prior project please send us a message here on Kickstarter and we will get you replacements sent immediately. We have had over 5,000 backers so we expect a few of you may have slipped through the cracks. Thanks again for all of the support!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
