PROJECT ENDED! Did you miss out? IT is not too late to get this game, just jump over to our website HERE to order now!
Thanks to all for the great project and for helping it to fund!
UPDATE 8/16: Check out this great new video review below:
Click! Clack! Lumberjack is a newly remodeled and revamped version of our already famous Tok Tok Woodman game. Whether you own the original Tok Tok or not, you owe it to yourself to give Click! Clack Lumberjack a look!
Tok Tok Woodman was our 3rd Kickstarter project ever way back in the fall of 2011. You can check it out HERE. It successfully funded but the high price point and large packaging meant it didn't really appeal to a broader audience and it never took off like most of our other projects have. We have set out to change this with Click! Clack! Lumberjack. So what is different? Here is a quick summary:
- Newly redesigned and improved packaging
- Additional variants and rules for more replay-ability
- Smaller shelf space for more portability and travel fun
- Lower MSRP and significant savings to KS backers!
- Shipping Options that are right for you, including our USA-only FLAT SHIP METHOD
- Stretch rewards including the much sought after Golden Axe and Golden Bark/Core Expansions.
Is that enough to make it different from Tok Tok? Maybe not if you already own it, it is more like Tok Tok 2.0 than a totally new game. The main difference is you can get it much cheaper now and we hope to use this success to get the game into larger distribution because of the lower price point.
The game is very similar to Tok Tok Woodman, with some notable differences discussed below, but the core game (no pun intended) is still the same. In fact, if you prefer you can play exactly as Tok Tok Woodman and ignore the extra variants, grubs and the like. Here are just a few of the many reviews of Tok Tok Woodman.
Wired.com Review is HERE
Reviews for Tok Tok Woodman:
"No one plays this without showing some emotions. Anger, frustration, humor but most of all laughing aloud about ones own inability to get that one easy piece. One of the best starters EVER." -Timo Schneider, Germany
"10/10" -Matthew M Monin (Octavian on BGG), USA
"Get out the Hatchet and ratchet up some fun. Timber!! have some bark Buster. A great simple to play, fun filler after a heavy night of gaming.!" -Rick Stonebraker, Fort Wayne, IN, USA
So why bother with releasing a game so similar to the original if the Original is so great? Great question! The game has been re-worked in Korea too under the name Bling Bling Gemstone already but we really wanted a smaller, cheaper version of the game to appeal to more audiences and we believe it could do really well in more mainstream retail stores, but for that we have to get the price point down. So we have made a lot of changes including:
Newly redesigned and improved packaging -The packaging and name has been updated to be smaller and more transportable. The original game took up a ton of space for what it is and the new, compact design will make it more appealing to families with limited space and road trips. The new design makes the game fit the "Lumberjack" theme of the game itself and will more easily convey the play of the game to the players.
Additional variants and rules - by very popular demand/request we are including some specially designed GRUB stickers that you can attach to the bark for lots more variation on the game. You can assign each grub to be worth double points and put them on the inside or outside of the bark if you wish, you can make a rule that any player that hits a grub piece off has to skip a turn, or hit with their other hand for a turn or two, The grub just add more options to the game and the possibilities are extensive!
Lower MSRP and sigificant savings to KS backers - If you check our original 2011 Kickstarter you will see the lowest price point was $27 for delivery within the USA, and it went up from there. Tok Tok retails for $25 and we want this game to retail for under $20. We are offering backers of this project to get the game for as low as $11 + $6 shipping w/in the USA via Priority Mail. The savings for you on Kickstarter are HUGE and significant. We are pricing this as low as we possibly can to save you off of the eventual retail price!
USA-only FLAT SHIP METHOD - Let's face it, some of you want your game to come in a nice box, with nice packaging and ding and dent free from the mail. But some of you can understand that if you don't mind folding the tuck box together yourself that we can ship this for much cheaper to you. In what we believe is a first for Kickstarter, we are offering US backers to choose not only their support level but how they get their rewards. Want it in a nice box with packing material and well packaged? No problem, we can do that, pledge at the $22 level. But are you a little less picky and don't mind if your game arrives in a flat rate envelope with the box flattened out? Great, we save money on shipping and pass the savings on to you as a backer, pledge at just $17 and know that it will still get to you safe and sound with full insurance, you will have to fold the box together yourself though!
Stretch Rewards - We have some excellent stretch rewards as outlined below and we think they will offer all of you backers a reason to support this project, in addition to all of the goodies mentioned already. OK, so having said all that, lets face it, this is Tok Tok revisited. If you already have Tok Tok Woodman you may not need this game, but if you don't... well here is your big chance!
So let's face it, we have had a lot of previous KS projects and all of the games have been successful. In fact, we've never had an unsuccessful game on Kickstarter. You'd think by now that we would be "set" and not need to do such a project any more, right? Well, not so much. While Mayday has been successful, we are still very small. In fact we have just 2 full-time employees plus the owner. We are a very small game company and all of our cash is tied up in other projects. In fact if you look at our history we introduced just 3 new games in 2010 and 2011 before Kickstarter. Since KS we have had 13 new games, but that is ALL thanks to backers like you.
By doing the KS program we are able to gauge interest and get the game made in much larger quantities and with cheaper prices to our customers. This is a large part of why we can offer our last few KS projects at such a low price point. Walk the Plank! and now Click Clack Lumberjack are both at under $20 price points. With this much stuff in the game and such a small company, this would only be possible with the support of the KS community.
Please note that we have priced the rewards at BARE BONES pricing, we can only offer the prices here that we are by keeping the extras to a bare minimum. Rather than jacking the price way up and throwing in "free stuff" we have decided to keep the price as low as possible and let you decide which extras you want in your game as add-ons for the most part. Here are some of our initial stretch goals for this campaign:
Goal met, we will produce the game and all backers will receive their rewards! We really hope this will be met without any trouble as all of our previous 13 Kickstarter Projects have been successful!
If we can get to the $10 k goal then we will unlock the much-sought after Golden Axe and Golden Core expansions for the game. We retail these two nifty little expansions for over $8 for the pair, but we will make them available to you backers for just $2 each, and no extra shipping charge. These two expansions are GREAT fun and add a lot to the game. You can read about them HERE and HERE.
$15,000 Stretch Reward
If we can get to $15,000 then we will include for every copy of the game sent as a reward, a super-durable zip-bag to store all of the components in at no extra cost. This very nice bag is perfect for taking your game on the go and protecting it from damage, throw it in the backpack or diaper bag and take it with you. It may smell like desitin later but your game will stay fresh and protected!
These are 6 MM thick extremely heavy duty bags, not just some ziplock bag out of the grocery store:
- Superior strength, puncture-resistant poly with heavy-duty zipper for security.
- Archival quality, acid free for long-term storage.
- 100% virgin polyethylene film.
- Meets FDA and USDA specifications.
- Recommended for auto and machinery parts, electrical panels, printing plates and tools.
These will fit all of the components but still git back in the box, making set up and take down a snap!
$20,000 Stretch Reward
Easy there partner... we would love to go planning boldly to $100,000 but lets take it one step at a time. When the project gets to over $10,000 then we will update this, but let's not get ahead of ourselves!
Risks and challenges
For any of you who have followed Mayday Games on KS you know we have had 13 game projects in the last 2 years. We aren't new to this, but we have certainly learned from every project. At present we have a few "open" projects that aren't quite fully finished and we are working diligently on those already.
There are perhaps 15 backers from our Swan Sleeves project and maybe the same from our Get Bit Tin project that have not received their rewards yet, either as a result of lost packages or some small logistics issues in the case of the Swan Sleeves. But out of the 1,100+ backers that is still just a few. We expect to have those last few backer's stuff to them shortly.
We also have one project that is very late, it is BOOTLEGGERS, a game that we had hoped would be delivered in late 2012 but has been dragging on and on. The good news is that it is now IN production and should be finishing up in late August for a September/October delivery. We are very sorry for the delay on that one, but are working diligently to get it done for approximately 250 backers.
Our most recent project, Walk the Plank, is coming along great, the production is completed and the game is in the container on the way to our warehouse so we expect to deliver the games to our nearly 2,000 backers in August, on schedule with our KS reward promises.
There are also perhaps 20 backers from our Crokinole Kickstarter earlier this year who are waiting on some custom crokinole boards and other items, but those are in the same container as Walk the Plank and we will get them out to them soon also.
Every other KS project has been fully delivered and we are very happy about that! We have the graphics completed for Click! Clack! Lumberjack and are ready to go on this one so it should be a very fast turn around for all backers!Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
