A word from the author:
"Writing is such a solitary endeavor. Even with a book as short as Homeland, I end up spending the greater part of many days alone with my thoughts. Which isn’t a bad thing, necessarily, but I enjoy public events for that rare opportunity to interact with readers in an entirely different way, to be in the same room as they are when they’re reacting to the story. I’m grateful to the folks at maybeparade for working so hard to make those sorts of interaction possible." -William Dewey, man of letters
A word about the press:
We are an independent press in Portland, OR. Prior to conceptualizing maybeparade, I had long harbored the desire to initiate a forum in which those around me could explore and share their talents as writers, artists, crafters, musicians — with the full creative freedom that fuels the perpetuation of original ideas.
The Homeland of Pure Joy, maybeparade’s first official publication, has given all involved such an opportunity. From the moment William Dewey shared the manuscript of his third novel, maybeparade has grown into a community of able-handed and multi-talented individuals. We are now entering into the production phase and will be printing and binding the books locally. Thus, it is with great enthusiasm that we hope to bring our community to yours and open up the celebration of maybeparade’s official inauguration with a book launch and regional book tour.
And what we're up to:
We will be able to host William Dewey for a regional tour of the Pacific Northwest with your support of this Kickstarter campaign. After the launch in Portland, we will host reading events in Olympia and Seattle. Maybeparade will then be able to represent with a reading in Mr. Dewey’s hometown of Denver, CO. In return we’d like to share with you, at all levels of giving, some of the craft that drives and inspires us! And, we hope you will join us in continuing to support local arts and artists! We'd love to see you on May 2nd in Portland or at a reading nearby! -Clare Sabatini, maybeparade founder
We will post regular updates on the book’s progress leading up to the May 2nd launch at Portland's Beech Street Parlor. Please help us spread the word by sharing this with your friends!
