One thousand backers, one week, five new posters

Hey Kickstarter friends,

Well this is crazy - my poster project has gotten a little bigger than I expected. Let's have some fun!

Between now and next week, let's work together to add five new designs to the project. If you have a quote you'd like to see on a poster, add it to this brainstorming document. I'll pick the best five, and update you with new designs as they're created.

I've been getting some questions about the Kickstarter process and the project, so here's a little Q+A action:

How do I pick which poster I want? A few days after the project ends, you'll get an email with a Kickstarter backer survey where you can enter your address and choose the design you want.

Can I buy more than one poster? Yes, that would be very nice of you. Just pledge an extra $20 ($30 intl.) for each additional poster you want.

Thanks again for your excitement, I'm so excited to make these posters and get them to you!

- Max

@Max: It's a pity, because I still think that your posters look great and are a fantastic idea, but I don't agree with your exposition. I agree on the basis of keeping things simple, but I still don't see how what Raphael, Soumithri or I say would be any more complicated once you already added the possibility to order multiple posters. In the end, I guess it doesn't make much sense for me to fund this project.

Could you add a higher pledge amount, say, $50, and make the reward for that amount two posters shipped globally?

Mvime - I value a simpler pledging process more than having the lowest prices. Sorry to see that we don't agree on this, I hope it still makes sense for you to pledge.

Thanks for the reply, Max. However, I don't really see how that would be more complicated than what you are already doing, since you do allow to pledge for multiple posters and you already have to count how many posters people have pledged for.
I don't really see it as a discount either, if you can put two posters in the same package as one, the shipping costs hardly increase.

Raphael + Mvime, it makes the project too complicated for me to get into deals and discounts. Sorry!

That's a good point Raphael. Let's see what Max says :)

Max, what I don’t get is why international backers have to add an extra $10 for any additional poster. You’re not sending each poster individually so a $10 increase in postage (overall instead of per-poster) should be enough for the whole package, shouldn’t it?

Ok, Einstein isn't technically a Philosopher so I won't be offended if you don't want to use any of his quotes. But he does have many quotes that are of a philosophical bent. Just saying.

      id love some Einstein quotes.

Now that has improved this project by a thousandth fold. Let the funding crowd vote and propose the quotes. Awesome Max!

Thanks, Darien! I love it. But considering Max's criteria... Stein is certainly considered a philosopher and studied philosophy but the core of her legacy is her writing (and he's not looking for quotes from writers). But now I've confused myself because the core of most known philosophers' legacies are their writings. Hm.

You don't have any Einstein quotes. Here is one of my favorites:

Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance you must keep moving

      Upped my pledge, too ...

Max, you should think about postcards or notecards with the quotes too -- maybe a set of 6? Just added TS Eliot quote to the doc -- so funny watching you type live!

Jaime, love that quote! Gonna Facebook it!

Whoops - it's working now. Sorry about that!

Would love to add to the doc but it's set up as read only (?). Would like to make a solid pitch for:

“For a very long time everybody refuses and then almost without a pause almost everybody accepts.” -- Gertrude Stein

Max, it's read only with no way to leave a comment. Here's my two cents:

We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.

Long, but I love it and would make a GREAT poster. Also like the Simone Weil quote.
