What's the story?
King Robert the Bruce and William Wallace (Braveheart) are two of Scotland's most famous heroes. Tales of Bruce and Wallace combines two previously published stories of these historical characters, and adds several related short stories into a single graphic novel.
What is in the book?
The final book will be A5 size, perfect bound, with a soft cover and will be approximately 80 pages in length.
Stories include:
- King Robert The Bruce and the Wars of Independence (24 pages)
- Guardians of Scotland (35 pages)
- The Battle of the Bell of the Brae NEW
- The Capture of Edinburgh Castle NEW
- Black Douglas and the Roxburgh Raid NEW
- William Bunnock, the fighting farmer NEW
- others if time and budget allows
In Scotland in 1297 William Wallace raised an army against the harsh regime of King Edward I and together with Andrew de Moray went on to victory at the Battle of Stirling Bridge.

After the capture and execution of William Wallace, Robert the Bruce seized the crown and began a long campaign to push his enemies from Scotland.

Who would enjoy this book?
Most of our readers enjoy history and especially the romantic characters of Scotland's past. School children and school teachers have also purchased our previous books as this period of Scottish history is often taught in schools. If you're a Game of Thrones fan, then you'll see parallels between medieval Scotland and the power struggles in those stories (that's not an accident, as writer George RR Martin was inspired by real events - read this news article to find out more).
Why are we doing a Kickstarter?
The funds are required for additional artwork for the new stories and for the printing of the new book.
About our rewards
Various reward tiers include copies of our previous books, so here's a bit about them.
Bannockburn Comic and Activity Book - the story of the Battle of Bannockburn along with a crossword, wordsearch and other puzzles and colouring pages.
Guardians of Scotland is a previously published comic book telling the story of William Wallace and Andrew de Moray as they raise an army to defend their homeland against invasion.
The Big Comic Con is our most recent book, which is a fictional story about a group of youngsters who steal valuable comics from a local exhibition and soon find themselves in all sorts of trouble.

Higher tier awards include colour prints of artwork by Scottish artist Paul Tonner (@HeavyVoodoo). Check out his work on his Facebook Page. Below are examples of the work-in-progress by Paul.

Risks and challenges
We don't anticipate any issues, as we've completed 4 comic book projects in the past, each successfully completed on time, and without the need for external funding.
The majority of the new book reuses previously published stories, and work is well underway on the remaining stories, so we fully expect to complete these on schedule. Should an artist be unable to complete any story, then the work will be assigned to one of the other artists.
