How did Hexagon get started?
About a year ago I started feeling it was really time for something new in astrological media. I came up with the concept for Hexagon, discussed it with some colleagues, and got to work. We launched a Kickstarter in April of this year, were chosen as a Kickstarter "Staff Pick" and ultimately raised 118% of our goal. The premier issue was released August 19th, 2015.
We've since received overwhelmingly positive feedback from readers, including many high profile professional astrologers. Michael Lutin, the in house astrologer for Vanity Fair for 25 years, referred to Hexagon as "a startlingly alive publication." Armand Diaz of the Astrology News Service said "Hexagon is not your daddy's astrological publication." Rebecca Gordon of MyPathAstrology.com called our premier issue "a total re-branding of astrology."
We intend to continue the smart, sharp, and stunningly alive reinvention of astrological media with our 2nd issue and beyond.

Risks and challenges
Whether this Kickstarter succeeds hinges on whether I've accurately discerned the community's desire for such a radically new astrology publication. Hexagon looks great, has really unique content, and sports a totally distinctive voice. Our premier issue received extremely enthusiastic feedback, from professional astrologers, dedicated readers of astrological media, and also those whose astrological literacy has yet to fully express itself (I.e. "beginners").
The biggest potential problem is that there are only 2 people working on the design and production of the magazine: myself and Scott Culins, the designer. If one of us was to get ill that could delay completion of issue #2.
I have no other projects I'm in the process of fulfilling. Just about all of my time and energy has been and will continue to be invested in Hexagon until this project is completed.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
