'Let's Brighten It Up' will be the debut EP from Matt Stansberry & The Romance and is scheduled for release in late July/early August! It will feature seven brand new songs that are heavily influenced by 50's and 60's music.
This album formed out of the discovery of all of the old school, throwback tunes I had bottled up inside myself. It just took a tiny spark, the writing of one song entitled 'Tonight', to get the ball rolling. I quickly realized that this album was going to need a band, a different name and entirely unique approach compared to everything else I've done up to this point. This EP could not have happened without all of the amazing talent that is on this album. It's not a follow up to my last solo release but a new project with a new direction, image and sound that takes a small army to pull off right.
Jeff Hall plays drums/percussion and also co-produced the record. Brine Webb plays bass, Dan Walker plays B3, Wurlitzer and keyboards and I play all guitars and lead vocals on the album.
We recorded the rhythm section live at a lake house on Grand Lake in northeastern Oklahoma April 23rd & 24th, 2012, thanks to Jon Schroeder (co-producer and engineer), Clint Engles and Jordan McLeod (assistant engineer) (www.underthebelfry.com and The Church Studio in Tulsa, OK).
Mike Turner arranged all of the horn parts for each song. Mike also engineered the recording session at the ACM@UCO (www.acm-uco.com), assisted by Bryce Zabric. Lee Rucker plays trumpet, Chris Hicks plays saxophone and Eric Leonard plays trombone.
All of the vocals were recorded at EAM Sounds (www.eamsounds.com), owned by Erick Alexander. Joe Stansberry, Chanda Graham and Myra Beasley sing all of the background vocals on the record.

So, now the album is completely tracked, but we're still just several important steps away from getting it done and released...
WHERE YOU COME IN
As the project is nearing completion we are looking to you, our friends, family and fans to help us finish the record. We need to get it mixed, mastered, pressed and promotional materials ready, which are all critical to the success of this EP. We haven't skimped on any portion of recording the music so we want to keep the momentum going and finish the record in a way that will do it the most justice.
We need to raise $5,000 to complete this project. We have 30 days to raise the money. If I don't raise the full amount by the end of the 30 day campaign then the project will not be funded - we won't receive any money. You can be confident giving to this project because your credit card will only be billed if the full $5,000 is raised.
There is so much we want to do with this record so if we exceed the $5,000 those funds will go towards our music video, pressing vinyl, printing t-shirts, re-printing of limited CD runs and more!
Thanks for your support!
