About this project
UPDATE: I have done some re-budgeting and cut costs drastically and will be reposting this project again shortly. Until then thanks for all the support! Hope to see everyone re-pledge when I repost the project! Continue to follow on twitter @StadiumOfSummer and email me with any questions or concerns you may have at StadiumsOfSummer@Gmail.com
With Stadiums of Summer: Everything But The Game, my goal is to create an awesome 300+ page photography-based coffee table book commemorating the stadiums and the culture surrounding Major League Baseball. It is my strongly held belief that part of what makes professional baseball so special, is the tens of thousands of fans from all walks of life coming together in a common building for a shared cause: the love of the game. I believe baseball fans and photography aficionados would treasure a document that would preserve and glorify this unique and timeless experience.
I was contacted and had an interview with IvyEnvy.com to help promote this project and it played during their live podcast Tuesday night (January 29, 2013) BELOW is a link to a podcast from IvyEnvy.com Be sure to check out other parts of the site if you are a Chicago Cubs fan! Thanks for all the support so far! (My interview starts at the 21 minute mark)
Growing up, I have seen and looked through many beautiful coffee table books focusing on various aspects of different sports, but they have neglected the experience of being at the game, which is an experience most fans want to hold onto as long as they can. My goal with this book is to allow those who don't have the luxury of traveling to see a ball game, to be able to experience and endure the culture of going to a ball game at different ball parks in Major League Baseball. I want everyone to be able to understand and appreciate America's Past Time and the uniqueness that each park has to offer.
- BOOK PRINTINGS $15,000
- POSTERS & PRINTS $2,000
- CAR/RV RENTAL AND GAS $14,000
- TICKETS AND PARKING $2,500
- $1,500 for possible repairs/damages/etc (see risks and challenges)
I have spent the better part of the past 3 months mapping out the best possible routes to make it to every stadium in a timely and cost efficient manner.
If this project makes more than the needed pledge amount, I plan to do some more creative things that might include another book, a dvd of this experience, other photo prints, framed prints or anything else that might come to mind!
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR CHECKING OUT THIS PROJECT!
Risks and challenges
The main challenge is going to be getting the funding ($35,000) because without that, the project can not be done.
I have a small ($1,500) fund of money for emergencies. The possible reasons I would dip into this fund while shooting for the book are as follows:
Car Trouble: My schedule is pretty rigid and car problems could potentially be an issue. I would use money from the fund to fix the car and get moving again. I have already budgeted $500 for repairs to the vehicle, so that money would be utilized first. This one would only be if the $500 is used up.
Rain Delay: In the event of a rain-out resulting in one of the games being cancelled, I would use about 500 of the emergency fund to fly out to that stadium after the trip is over. (Near the end of the season)
Equipment Problems: I am not anticipating any camera issues, and I will have personal backups just in case. However, if something happens that causes a camera or my equipment to need repairs, I will use money from the "emergency fund" to do so.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
The estimated delivery date is shown beneath the "reward" description for each pledge amount. However, it is possible that you might receive them much sooner.
