For those that are unable to back us here, we welcome your support and are open for your pre-orders! Email us with the subject line 'Pre-order TINYPINK', include your full name, email, address and the reward that you want to claim (how many caps do you want?) to email@example.com
You'll be added to a list of pre-orders that will be contacted as soon as the kickstarter hits 100% in order to fulfil your payment.
The TINYPINK stencil cap is a new redesign of the widely known DIY graffiti stencil cap, made and tested by veteran aerosol artists.
A couple of quick facts
- Clicks onto any standard can of spraypaint and stays firmly in its place, including brands like Montana, MTN, Molotow and Ironlak.
- The hole in front is 3mm or 1/8inch wide.
- Prevents dripping! Excess paint is captured in a 45 ml or 1,52fl.oz. reservoir on the front and any paint spilling through the hole is quickly guided back into the reservoir through a small incision.
- Optimised for speed! Though it firmly stays in its place, it isn't hard to move it from one can to the other, allowing you to swiftly switch between colors.
- The front side is tilted! Many artists are used to holding their cans diagonal when detailing, having a tilted front face makes sure this habit is not disturbed.
An issue that always shows up with DIY'ed stencil caps is dripping. This issue has two causes. One being the paint that is blocked by the stencil cap, with no place to go but down the can, over you hands. The other being excess paint that makes it through the hole of the stencil cap but is not projected onto the surface you're painting on. We have solved both with the TINYPINK stencil cap.
As you can see in the image below, our earlier prototypes suffered from the same issue. By changing the design with an incision right below the hole, guiding the excess paint back down into the reservoir, we fixed it!
The TINYPINK has a reservoir of 45ml or 1,52fl.oz.. This allows the artist to work for longer periods of time before they have to get rid of the built up paint. Experience has shown us this usually translates to 10-15 minutes of focussed working on details before the reservoir has reached its limit. Although there is no way to tell how full or empty the reservoir actually is, an experienced artist will be able to tell after a while by the weight of the TINYPINK, just like he or she does with spraycans.
GET A GRIP
Careful thought has gone into the handling of the TINYPINK. Artists have grown accustomed to the universal diameter of a spraycan, adding something that widens that could disturb their movements.
We are happy to tell you that the TINYPINK only adds 2mm or 0,079 inches to the total width.
On top of that, because it extends forward, we have added diagonal edges on both sides, right where the finger-tops go to provide a sturdy grip. Symmetrical, so it gives the exact same handling for right- as left-handed people.
THE PERSON BEHIND IT
26 year old Belgian artist and entrepreneur, Matthew Dawn. "I've been working with aerosol for the past 5 years. I used to make my own stencil caps by hand like everyone else does, honestly I just got sick of it and decided I had to come up with a better way. At first I sculpted designs in clay onto cans. After that came 3D printed prototypes, testing them thoroughly and showing them to artists like Locatelli, Smates, Cyrcle (Rabi) and Fintan Magee. It took a few rounds but finally it is ready for that final frontier, production. Everything else is done and paid for, your money will go to nothing else except producing the pieces, packaging and shipping them. I thank you for reading all the way through and hope to see you on the list of backers!" - Dawn.
Risks and challenges
Since it is our first time working with a manufacturer, there is a chance that the pieces are not going to come out as intended. Never the less we are still going to bring you a quality product. During this process we are being guided by the Antwerp based company 3DEE. They have been helping us building the prototype from day one, are experienced in starting new productions and working with these manufacturers, so we are in very good hands.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
