This semester at NYU I am taking a class called "Intermediate Narrative" where I have the opportunity to produce an 8-10 minute professional film. The film I have chosen to make is "New Scars" shooting on location November 18th-20th at New York Jiu Jitsu.
Post - Production will be completed in the Spring of 2012.
"New Scars" is a film about Leo, a man in his mid 20's, who after getting stabbed in a mugging attempts to regain control of his life by training in the martial art of Muay Thai, the ancient art of Thai kick boxing. He obsesses over getting stronger to the point where he may be able to participate in an amateur fight. However Leo pushes himself for the wrong reason, internally fantasizing that by fighting in Muay Thai he can beat the mugger, leading him down a path that inevitably harms his relationships.
For over a year now I have been training in Muay Thai for my own set of reasons, and I have chosen to put my own heart and soul into a film based on the lessons I have learned from my own experiences.
Unfortunately filmmaking is a very expensive endeavor, and me being a full-time student, and part time worker makes saving up funds very difficult. I understand that I will have to probably front a lot of the budget myself, which covers things such as food for crew and cast, transportation for equipment, training for the actors, art direction and props, I am still looking for outside support wherever I can get it. Even if you donate $1, it will be greatly appreciated and you will be constantly updated on the production's progress.
Thank you for your time. I am very excited to be making this film, so much that I'm already shooting what I can! I hope that you found what you've seen interesting.
