How Will Teachers Use Math52?
Thank you to everyone who's supported the Math52 video series. We've raised $20,000 in the past two weeks, much of it from individual teachers who have used Mathalicious lessons to engage their students and teach math differently. As former teachers ourselves, our mission is to offer our friends in the classroom something that will make their lives better, and we believe the Math52 video series can play an important role in that: in offering a new vision of what it means to teach math.
We have to be honest, though. Even with all this generous support, we are not on track to meet our $164,000 goal by June. And if we don't, we'll receive nothing.
As many of you know, Mathalicious lessons explore some very interesting questions: Should Nike charge by weight? What are the odds of finding life on other planets? But they explore some important questions, too: How does health insurance work? How can we use statistics to understand income distributions?
If you're as excited about Math52 as much as we are (and we're pretty psyched!), please share Math52 with your friends and family. Reach out to them on Facebook and Twitter, but follow up with them, too. Stand on a soapbox in the middle of town and shout, "I helped kickstart a smarter country! Will you?"
We have 36 days to change the world. Thanks to everyone who's already backed Math52 and thanks to everyone who will.
