Eric Buchholz is a Seattle-based arranger/orchestrator of video game music. He has been involved with the production of video game music concert tours including The Legend of Zelda 25th Anniversary Symphony (and bonus CD that shipped with Skyward Sword), The Legend of Zelda: Symphony of the Goddesses, and Pokémon: Symphonic Evolutions. Eric was also an arranger on Zelda Reorchestrated's Twilight Symphony album and producer of Pokémon Reorchestrated's Double Team! album, both of which were funded right here on Kickstarter.
Sebastian Wolff is the founder and director of Materia Collective, an organization of over 400 composers, arrangers, performers, and other artists who share a passion for video game music soundtracks. Ocarina of Time is a story all about the passage of time and the beauty of impermanence and mortality. It's a journey from childhood through adulthood and from life to death. The message is echoed across the entire world of Hyrule all throughout the game. We'll delve deeper into these themes in an upcoming update.
In order to make Hero of Time have its own distinctive style, we decided to look eastward for inspiration. Among the biggest influences on the album are Japanese video games like Skyward Sword and Ōkami, Japanese animation like Princess Mononoke and Castle in the Sky, and music from various other Japanese composers. We hope you enjoy this combination of styles.
- October: Kickstarter fundraising.
- November: Orchestrations finalized, sheet music printed.
- Early December: Recording session.
- Late December - January: Post production: editing, mixing, mastering.
- February: Manufacturing.
- March: Release!
Our initial $50,000 goal is enough for us to record with a 64-piece orchestra at Studio 1 in Bratislava, Slovakia (pictured above). However, if we were to raise an additional $10,000 (for example), we would be able to upgrade that to an 82-piece orchestra and add additional recording time. If we somehow manage to raise even more than that, we might be able to start looking at recording in Seattle, or even London, (Abbey Road, anyone?). There are a lot of available options. Don't worry, we've called ahead and checked for calendar availability.
For now we're just going to focus on meeting our original $50,000 goal!
The budget breakdown for our $50,000 goal looks something like this:
- 10% Kickstarter fees, payment processing fees, and taxes
- 35% Recording sessions (musicians, contracting, studio rental)
- 35% Hired talent (editing, mixing, mastering, artwork, etc.)
- 20% Kickstarter rewards and shipping
Once Hero of Time has been completely finalized, our backers will be the first to know! Links to download digital rewards will be distributed alongside our global launch on iTunes, Loudr, Spotify, Pandora, and various other music outlets. For non-backers, physical albums and vinyl editions will likely go on pre-sale prior to digital launch, with the goal being to ship out the same time as digital launch. If physical album manufacturing is delayed, digital launch will remain on schedule. Those who pre-order a physical album will receive a digital download at no additional cost.
These plans are subject to change. We will post final details once available.

Riesgos y desafíos
Raise your hand if you've ever been burned by a Kickstarter that never followed through with the project, or one that somehow managed to get delayed at every stage, or one that was weakened overall by adding too many stretch goals.
Yeah, we've been there too, which is why we solemnly promise to remain true to our project's goal.
If this project were to run into unexpected delays, they would most likely occur during post-production or manufacturing. These stages can potentially involve scheduling conflicts due to coordinating with several other people to finish up the final products. With clear communication and good planning in advance, there shouldn't be any unforeseen delays. Hooray!Más información sobre el concepto de responsabilidad en Kickstarter
