We're back! A year and a half after the release of our first album Shadow and Steel and our mainstage performances at both MAGFest and DragonCon, we've decided it's finally time to start telling more stories - and bringing you new music! For the last 7 months we've been prepping a slew of vocal-driven, hard hitting metal songs for our sophomore album: The Final Door. We're finally ready to step into the studio and record what we've done, but we need your help first to make it happen!
In order to create an album at the level of quality we feel these songs deserve, we're doing this one right from the ground up: professional recording sessions, top of the line studio production, gorgeous artwork, and packaging worthy of the material. This is going to be a professional release in every way possible. We're working with engineer Drew Mazurek (who oversaw our previous single release The Forsaken Tribe) once again, so you can rest assured that this album will sound amazing.
But what about the music? We're glad you asked!
It includes music inspired by:
- Palace (Zelda 2: The Adventure of Link)
- Fairy Fountain (Various)
- Trailer (Breath of the Wild)
- Shadow Temple (Ocarina of Time)
- Ballad of the Goddess (Skyward Sword)
- Plus More!
All of which are done in the usual Master Sword fashion: these are songs that pay homage to The Legend of Zelda in interesting new ways while still being largely original material. We tell stories from the games through the lens of Power Metal with a sprinkling of familiar melodies strewn throughout. These songs capture the spirit of the games while also offering something new to listeners. And while Shadow and Steel touched on a wide variety of textures and sounds, The Final Door is in every way more energetic, heavy, and aggressive. This is Master Sword at its best.
To get to our goal of $16,000, we've created a Kickstarter campaign which includes a lot of amazing and exclusive items. These include custom made leather armor, unique T-shirts, and limited edition artwork, among others.
What is all the money going to? Here's a quick breakdown of costs:
- Recording: $1,500
- Mixing: $3,000
- Mastering: $1,000
- Artwork: $1,000
- Manufacturing: $2,000
- Kickstarter Rewards: $5,000
- Fees/Other Costs: $2,500
- Total: $16,000
We believe this is a totally manageable goal. Your support over the years has proven to us that this unique experiment of ours has legs, that it's a project worth pursuing and that delivering the highest possible quality product is something that you, the fans, want.
Thank you for being there for us: for buying our albums, watching our music videos, coming to our shows, and just showing your love and support on social media. We don't take what you've given us for granted, you all really are the reason this band exists at the level we're currently running at. We hope you'll continue putting your trust in us and in turn we'll give everything we have to make sure you have a truly memorable collection of music.
