The Mason Bottle is the first glass baby bottle designed to work with mason jars. Our patent-pending design includes a silicone nipple that is compatible with any standard mason jar. The Mason Bottle makes using glass bottles easier for everyone. It saves families money, time and space, and uses only the healthiest materials.
We need your backing to make Mason Bottle a reality. Here's what you can do:
- Back us and use your reward bottles for your child or for a gift
- Back us and designate your reward bottles to a mom in need via our partnership with The Homeless Prenatal Program
- Back us and just donate a few dollars just because you believe in our mission!
The wide-mouth of mason jars makes them very easy to clean. You will not need to buy bottle brushes or pipe cleaners. No hard to reach places or tiny spaces here. The Mason Bottle is also top-rack dishwasher safe.
The width of the jars also makes them a natural fit for a baby’s hands. Our son was able to hold his own Mason Bottle even from a young age, shown here at 7 months.
Because mason jars are temperature-resistant, extra breast milk can be stored in the fridge or the freezer.
When it's time to give baby a bottle, you can take the bottle out of cold storage, heat it up, and just add the nipple.
No milk is spilled transferring between containers, and there are no extra dishes to wash!
In addition to saving money on bottles, Mason Bottle also helps parents save money on milk storage.
Right now, most parents have to buy milk storage bags for extra breastmilk. These bags are messy and single use.
By using mason jars instead, there’s one less thing to buy, one less thing to spill and one less thing to throw away!
We wanted parents to be able to DIY their own bottles by buying the nipple and nothing else if they really want to save.
So we designed the nipple to invert into the jar for easy storage and sterile transport. This way you don't even need a cap and the bottle is completely plastic-free!
Mason jars are made of a thick glass that is heat and cold tolerant as well as shock resistant. We’ve never broken a bottle, but we offer the option to add silicone sleeves for extra protection.
Mason Bottles are the most sustainable baby bottle on the market! They allow you to reduce consumption and reuse jars you already have at home for baby bottles. When baby is done with bottles, the jars are great for baby food and sippy cups. Or you can just repurpose the jars in the kitchen.
The wide mouth of mason jars also lends itself to the perfect natural-shaped nipple.
The wide opening of the jar makes room for a breast-like nipple shape that’s easy for baby to latch onto and helps the transition from breast to bottle and back.
We designed the ventilation system to be part of the nipple itself. Many other bottles rely on a special collar or straw insert for ventilation, but we wanted to make sure there were no extra pieces to mess with.
The Mason Bottle’s nipple is designed to be anti-colic and anti-gas. Our ventilation design mimics the way our heart works. Milk flows smoothly with no air bubbles and no leaking.
Please note that before your order ships, you will be able to choose:
- bottle sizes (either 4 or 8 ounce)
- sleeve sizes (to fit either 4 or 8 ounce if applicable)
- nipple sizes (flow rates shown below)
When we were preparing for the birth of our son, we wanted to give him the healthiest possible start in life. We knew we wanted to use glass bottles because new research keeps exposing more harmful chemicals in plastic. But glass bottles turned out to be very expensive, so we thought,
“Why can’t we just put a nipple on the mason jars we have at home and DIY our own bottles?”
Once we designed the product and actually started using it, we realized the Mason Bottle helped us do much more than save money. It’s full of features that save us time and space around the house too.
HOW IT WORKS: When you pledge money to help bring a Kickstarter project to life, you get a reward in return. In our case, that reward comes in the form of our product! Pledge levels are listed on the right hand side of the page and beneath them is a description of what you will get as a reward for backing us.
SHIPPING AND ORDER DETAILS: When you check out, you will see that Kickstarter adds shipping to the final amount. Kickstarter will not prompt you to choose sizes or provide your shipping address, etc… All of the details we need to fulfill your reward will be requested after the Kickstarter campaign finishes.
PLEDGE ADD-ONS/BUILD YOUR OWN REWARD: If you would like to add extra items to your reward, when you checkout, please add the corresponding amount to your pledge: $6 per silicone sleeve $10 per two-pack of nipples.
QUESTIONS: Contact us through Kickstarter and we will get back to you ASAP!If you love Mason Bottle’s mission, but don’t have a baby in your life who’s the right age for the product, we’ve teamed up with The Homeless Prenatal Program (HPP) so that you can designate your reward to go to a family in need.
Backers can designate their Mason Bottles to HPP Moms Backers can also designate their baby shower provisions to HPP
HPP hosts baby showers for 160 moms a year. Eight times a year, in groups of twenty, these women are celebrated with a shower after they complete their prenatal education classes.
HPP surrounds families with all the services they need to create a stable loving environment for their children. This includes helping families locate housing, providing prenatal classes, continuing education and much more. To learn more about HPP, go to homelessprenatal.org
The funds we raise on Kickstarter will go to cover part of our expenses in the following categories:
DESIGN AND ENGINEERING: $5,000 We wanted to invest in solid design to make sure we are producing the safest bottle possible. We also want to make sure the milk flows smoothly so that the bottle can provide protection from colic and gas.
TOOLING: $17,000 This is where we build the large steel machinery that molds the nipple and cap.
FIRST ORDER: $7,000 We need to meet our factory’s minimum requirements by paying up front for a large first order of Mason Bottles.
We are beginning the tool building process at the same time as our Kickstarter. The tool building process can take up to 10 weeks because it involves creating very large steel machinery. From there, we will complete a small run of product and perform all the necessary tests for flow, durability, etc… Manufacturing will officially start once testing is complete. Rewards will then begin shipping in March and should arrive by April.

Risks and challenges
The primary risk associated with this project is delay. We understand that babies are only young enough to take a bottle for a certain period of time, so we are going to work to avoid manufacturing delays at all costs. We have already begun the manufacturing process, so we have reasonable assurance from our factory that we will be able to stick to our timeline.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
