Mary: Bamboo would be awesome! yay!
Congrats on the success! Very pleased to have been part of it
YAY! So happy this worked out!
Congrats, Mary, you did it!
Woo Hoo! Congratulations. I'm beyond excited about your vision and so happy to be a part of it.
Mary, I am excited for you and many of us who would wear your suits. I was able to help out a little but not as much as I wanted to.
Are you opening a bottle of something bubbly in t-minus 13 minutes?
Jenny: No one that I know about is waiting in the wings, but maybe... :-)
So much fun - and $136k is amazing!!
Audrey - You're about the 10th person who has asked for a vegan option. How about bamboo? Does that appeal as a natural fiber?
I've wanted a well-fitting suit for a long time, so I'm really happy to see this happening. However, I'm vegan and won't wear wool, and this color pallet doesn't work for me. I pretty much only wear black and red... Are you planning to expand the color and fabric options in the future?
Would love to have been able to give more just wasn't in the cards. Can't wait to see this up and running and to be able to order in the future.
Pregnancy is a good reason to delay! Congrats Ava.
And Mary, I feel like I have to keep watching the clock tick down. I'm inordinately excited and, yes, still hoping that last 14k comes in...Is there a secret $10,000 donor out there, just waiting to hit the button in the last minutes? :)
Had to panic and run around a bit - it hadn't occurred to me that PayPal wasn't an option. Boy do I feel spoilt.
But it's all fixed up now, and I'll be getting the Goodie Bag reward. I'm excited as all hell.
Congratulations to Mary and the whole Saint Harridan team! Look at all the money you've raised!
Ava Fahey-Latrope: Congratulations!! No problem on the life / pledge changes. :-)
Sorry, Saint Harridan, for the last-minute pledge change. It kills me to delay getting the full suit my partner had pledged for me for xmas, but we just found out that I'm pregnant! I'll have to make do with just the t-shirt and hoodie until this time next year. :(
Jenny: Cool idea!
You know, you're gonna want to add some earrings, necklaces and Saint lover accessories for those of us admirers who don't wear the clothes, but love the ones who do. :)
You will get everything in the Knife reward plus everything in Team Saint. Thanks!!
i have a question about the pledge reward levels -- if one ordered, say, the $63 pocket knife level, is the knife all that would show up, or is there some kind of cascading reward bonus? I tried to find info on that in the various lists and help files, but it's pretty confusing and I couldn't really find an answer.
such a great idea. you guys deserve all of the success you've gotten! congrats!
Shane, Rachel and April: I agree that Kickstarter has made this a little confusing. Make sure you're logged in, then click "Manage Pledge." Increase your pledge by the price of the new item. Keep your reward the same. If you want to confirm what I have for you, message me on Kickstarter or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you!!
Ditto to Shane and Rachel! That tie clip looks really sweet and I want to make sure it gets to me ;-)
Similar question to Shane...
I just upped my pledge by $24 for that awesome tie clip. How do I let you now I want it (and which letters I'd like on it)
I want to contribute again because I love the project AND I want the tie clip. Is there something I need to do on the second contribution, or will you all sort that out?
So proud to be a part of your dream!! Just contributed to the audacious goal because we should all THINK BIG (and I love the tie clip :)
Pearl, we have a way for you to apply to be a model! Check out: http://bit.ly/TtI0bl
This is a beautiful project!! Let me know if you ever need an Asian model for your line. ;)
I've always wanted a dress shirt, vest and tailored suit that really fit me. I'm excited you are doing this! Thanks!
Every little bit counts. :-) I blasted your project out to our Girlpages Network. When you produce your clothing line let us know and we will announce it to help sell it. :-) www.girlpagesnetwork.com
Thanks so much, Mary! :-D
Cable Flame: I'm not sure I can give you a definitive answer about how it will all work with these particulars. Trying it on might be the next thing. I realize that isn't possible yet, but we will take back anything that doesn't fit when you receive it, and give you a complete refund.
I see your sizes for shirts and jackets on the front page (and I've read all of your website as well), but perhaps I'm missing the part that states how long they are. I'm wider in my hips than in my chest, and I'm afraid that the shirts won't button at the bottom as well as the they, the vests, and jackets will ride up (like my current men's wear) to above my hips because they aren't wide enough at the bottom to accomodate my hips. That if I get something big enough for my hips, it'll be too big for my chest, and if I get something small enough for my chest, it'll ride up over my hips and butt. I guess that's my biggest concern and I'm wondering how you're accommodating (if at all) for that.
Thanks for your previous prompt reply! :-D
Cable Flame: I hope that our sizing strategy will work for you. Of course, there are no standard sizes - for 6 billion people, there are 6 billion body measurements. We've put a lot of thought into this... fingers crossed. Our sizing information is on the front of the Kickstarter page, or I can email it to you if you prefer..
Danika: To add a vest to your suit, increase your pledge by $165.
Katrina and Ondine: Kickstarter prohibits anything that looks like or smells like a raffle, discount, coupon - anything where you are contributing to a "chance." But, I'm working on a plan to simply donate a suit to a nonprofit so that people don't have to feel obligated to contribute to it, which is the part KS might object to...
When I heard about this project, I don't remember if I shouted for joy or cried out of relief. As a genderfluid person, and one that struggles to feel like a "real" man when I'm a guy, it feels like a sign that "you're not really a man" and "you don't belong" when I go shopping for guy clothes and nothing fits. I'm short, fat, and curvy, with wide hips, a narrower waist, and large breasts/chest. (Which is *great* when I'm presenting female/femme, but makes it very difficult to present male/masculine or butch.) I'm so glad to see Mitch as one of your models (Mitch is quite fetching to boot!) and to see that you have 2 baseline suits (you get that you can't just size up! Why does no one else get that?) but from the pics I see of Mitch, they seem to have a chest/hip/waist ratio that's closer together (more AMAB? more "apple"?) instead of the more hourglass figure I have. PLEASE tell me that you're making suits that'll give masculine lines to people with hourglass figures? My problem is usually shirts and vests and jackets don't fit over my hips, or if they do, they're way too big in the chest. Not to mention problems getting pants to fit right.
I'm planning on getting one of your suits when the pop-up store comes to my town and I'm looking forward to that day as a kinda bar mitzvah... the day I'll finally become (and be accepted as) a man. I would just be crushed (and would certainly cry right there in the store) if your suits didn't fit me right in the chest/hips/waist (I already know the arms and legs'll have to be taken in... never bought a piece of clothing that it didn't need to be)... it would feel like yet another statement that I can never be a man, which I know is the exact opposite of the kind of thing you're trying to bring about.
Once again, thanks so much for even existing! You're giving so much hope to so many people!
So do we need to up our pledge if we're purchasing the suit & want a waistcoat?
This project rocks! Discovered it by knowing Kelly. My spouse is a very full figured woman who has had to have major alterations done to the very fly suits she buys. She will be a customer for sure. Have shared it with others who will be interested. Please consider in your designs the kind of suits you can find at stores catering to well dressed black men - might have been called zoot suits back in the day - lots of colors and coordinating pieces, including hats.
Ondine - that's a great idea. I think it should be something that can be easily enough done. Just increase your pledge and when payment time comes through, let Mary know (if they want to go with the idea) that you'd like to pay it forward for someone else. I'm not sure how someone would identify/choose those someone elses, though.
Mary, if there is another upgrade option that comes up, I would recommend a "gift to a Saint" fund for un- or underemployed Saints who cannot now afford the full suit but would really benefit from having one. Not sure how you would handle that, but it would be cool if you could work it out, and I know I feel like I have earmarked enough for myself for now and would really like to be giving for someone else's sake.
Ok, I'm down. Is there any easy way to upgrade?
Cindy: I like to give current backers a special price, or a headstart on something that has limited availability, but eventually both the ring and the vest will be available as a reward (unless we sell out of the ring).. I'm not sure what special thing I'll do with the vest yet. Ideas?
So glad to be able to help. I have so many girl friends who have exactly this problem! So many people are going to really appreciate having a well designed pret-a-porter suit option! Thank you Mary for coming up with the idea of Saint Harridan.
When the vest becomes available, will it be an added reward on the side to choose from? Or will you do it like the rings where we just have to up our pledge?
Super excited to see this over $10k above the original goal! I upped my pledge for the ring (love the design) and can't wait to see how the next 20 days go.
I cannot thank you enough, Mary. It really does mean a lot to have that option open to us, and it sounds like it'll be really lovely to boot. <3
Desiree: The black patina ring will have silver contrast for the word SAINT. It will basically be the opposite of the one in the photograph.
Jacqueline: If we run out of rings, I will send out another update. You got one!
So glad you are going strong, 20 days to go and you have already well exceeded your goal.
I have increased my pledge by $46 to get a ring but, besides here, how do we let you know what the increase is for so you don't oversell the rings?
Oh wow, I am super excited...we're definitely gonna get enough for the vests. Can't wait to see how they turn out! I have a quick question about the rings, though. Is the black patina finish contained in the word Saint (as we saw in the picture), or will it make the entire ring a solid black?
Mazel tov my dear Mary, to you and everyone at Saint Harridan :) I am proud to be a backer and share Nadine's excitement about the ring!! Increased my pledge in order to be able to enjoy this beautiful reward, and am still loving checking the site throughout the day to watch the pledged amount *increase*. Think of what still might happen with 20 days left?!?! xoxox
