About this project
A spacecraft crashes in Blackwood Grove, and the Kid is the only one watching. Federal agents hunt down the signal, but no one can get near the craft due to its crushing forcefield. Why can some objects pass through the forcefield, but others are repelled? Hiding in the craft, the Visitor hopes the Kid can figure out the rule before the Agents and help it escape. The Agents want to dissect the Visitor and keep the ship.
Experiment with what can pass through, figure out the rule, and win in this asymmetric game of teamwork and inductive reasoning.
*The components are not final. The trust mat, the rules sheets, the guess tokens, and the reminder cards in particular are all works in progress.
- Innovative inductive reasoning mechanic
- Complete creativity: make up any rule for the other players to figure out
- 10 minutes to play, deep gameplay
- 3 asymmetric roles
- 3-5 players (2v1, 2v1v1, or 2v1v1v1)
- A new take on an instantly recognizable story
- Evocative artwork from Maggie Chiang + graphic guruship of Jack Hagley
- Near infinite replayability
One player plays the Visitor, one player plays the Kid, and the rest play as the Agents. VISITOR is a puzzle game where the Visitor creates the puzzle. But be careful: if the Visitor makes the puzzle too easy, the Agent opponents will solve it and they’ll win. If it’s too hard, nobody will solve it and the Agents will win. If the Visitor makes it just right, the Kid will be able to figure it out and they’ll both win!

VISITOR is an asymmetric game, which means that each player does something different from the other players on her turn: the Kid's turn is different from the Agent's turn, which is different from the Visitor's turn.

Risks and challenges
VISITOR in Blackwood Grove will be Resonym's 5th game, and (hopefully!) 2nd successful Kickstarter, so we are confident that we will be able to deliver.
We are aware of shipping and production hangups and pitfalls, and we will do everything in our power to avoid them. VISITOR's art is close to complete, but it is not wrapped up yet. Maggie and Jack expect to be done with the art and graphic design by the end of the campaign for printing!
We will work with our printer to have the games in production in time to meet our shipping deadline. We have a national/international distributor, PSI, who works with other distributors to get the game out there.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
