- 100% Language independent - please send us a message if you'd like to translate the rules in your language! We already have translators for: Dutch, German, Italian, Portuguese, Greek, Zuid-Afrikaans and Spanish.
- A basic and a deluxe edition
We are still working on the 3D file of the plastic miniature ships. It will be a huge miniature closely resembling the ships used in the 17th-18th century, while offering enough space to put your spices, gold and cubes in and out of the ship without turning the entire thing upside down. Here's a sketch:
First, move the pirates according to the wind direction die:
Then move your boats and/or take actions! The three main choices each turn:
Trading with locals (at wild islands):
Upgrading your ship (at Market Island):
Battling - Trying to steal spices from your opponents:
First player to collect (trade or steal) 2 spices of each of the four types and brings them back to his/her home island wins the game!

* Solo rules are still in development. If for some reason it will not be possible to add a solo mode to the game, this stretch goal will be replaced by one with similar value, such as a free promo pack.

We have chosen to charge shipping later, in the Pledge manager. You do not have to add any shipping costs to your pledge right now. If you would like to know why we have chosen for this, please refer to the FAQ. All prices are estimated. We will subsidize € 5 per game for the shipment. We have to pay 21% sales tax for all sales to consumers in the EU. We will subsidize most of this, but we have added € 5 per game to the shipping costs in the EU to help offset these costs for us.
You don’t have to pay any VAT or other custom charges; we also take care of this for you. We offer flat rate shipping! No matter how many games or add-ons you pledge for, you only have to pay these shipping costs once (Excluding distributors and large retail orders, for which actual shipping will be calculated).

Zone 3 = Austria, Canada, Denmark, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Spain, Sweden, UK (for as long as they are in the EU...)

Risks and challenges
This is our second Kickstarter project. We have delivered Scuba one month earlier than we estimated. We learned a lot from creating that Kickstarter and backing 100+ others and we are certain to also make The Dutch East Indies a success. We will produce in China where we hope to continue our collaboration with Wingo. We are still talking with different fulfillment companies to determine the overall best (considering price, delivery time, packaging and communication) fulfillment companies to fulfill The Dutch East Indies, as this was the biggest headache of the Scuba project; delivering the game a month early to backers but at greatly higher costs to us than calculated in the Kickstarter.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
