About

Research shows that there are over 200,000 househusbands in English-speaking countries alone and that the trend for men to stay home and look after the household and family is increasing.

I publish a blog called LazyHouseHusband.com (www.lazyhousehusband.com) and have written an article on being a househusband called "Confessions Of A Househusband" which has been featured in the British Telegraph.

I would like to interview a number of househusbands and stay-at-home dads and then publish "The Househusband Guide" - a book offering many practical tips and useful information to both men and women who are either considering reversing their roles, or who are currently struggling with the role of being a househusband / stay-at-home dad and can benefit from the real-life experiences of others in a similar situation.

The interviews will be done mostly via email and will focus on the personal experience of househusbands, stay-at-home dads and work-from-home fathers as the primary domestic manager and/or main family caretaker. The interview questions will cover most aspects of being a househusband - from how they first became involved in the role, to how they are handling daily domestic responsibilities such as housework, cooking, looking after children, shopping and managing household finances, as well as issues of isolation, depression, identity, etc ...

Househusbands, stay-at-home dads and work-from-home fathers who would like to become part of the project can register at www.househusbandguide.com.

I hope to raise $13,000 to help cover costs such as hiring a professional editor to help assemble the interview material, a book cover illustrator, and printing an initial 1,000 copies of "The Househusband Guide". I estimate the project will take around 2-3 months to complete after the money has been raised and all final interview material has been collected.

The book will be made available in both electronic book format and paperback, and promoted online via my blog, other parenting sites and forums, social networks, family and friends, etc ... and will be sold through Lulu.com, Amazon.com, eBay, and other retail outlets.

I will keep those who support this project informed and updated throughout all stages of the process via email and my lazyhousehusband.com blog.

As well as offering rewards for those who help to fund this project, I plan to use the book to help raise awareness for projects run by established non-profit organizations that support better bonding between fathers and their children, and to create an online community where househusbands and stay-at-home dads can interact, exchange practical information and get help, tips and support from other househusbands.

Thank you for contributing to the success of this project. Let me know if you have any questions in the comments.

Warm regards,

Martin Aranovitch (aka "The Lazy Househusband")
