Shipping, Martian App and Watch Function Updates

Posted by Martian Watches (Creator)

First off, thanks to the many of you who have received your watch and written nice remarks on this KS Martian site.  Reading these is quite rewarding and we hope your positive responses help Backers who have not received theirs to feel the wait will definitely be worth it.  We’re working hard to get only the best quality product to everyone.

Shipping Update for All Watches

We have now completed Early Bird G2G and Passport shipping. We are continuing to ship non-Early Bird Passport and G2G watches as they arrive, but anticipate that most will ship in mid-March with completion of shipping by March 20.

For Victory models, we remain unfortunately late for all orders, though non-Early Bird orders remain somewhat in line with the 4-6 week delay beyond February announced in the January 25th update. We currently expect to ship all Victories by April 20, with Early Birds shipping first.  Although we hope you Victory backers will want to hold on a bit longer, if you prefer not to wait you may change your order to a Passport or G2G for earlier shipping, or we will of course provide a refund if desired. Please contact us through http://martianwatches.com/contact-us/ and note if either is requested and we will do so.  Please make sure to include your Kickstarter name and category in which you pledged.

The stainless steel watch bands are still on backorder, so we are shipping watches without them and will send the bands separately later. We do believe they are worth the wait – we took some photos and think they look pretty sharp!

If you have a multi-watch order that includes Victory, we will not hold your order for them – we will ship what we have in stock, and send the Victorys separately when they arrive.

Android and iOS App Updates

We will be releasing an update to our Android app in the coming days.  For those of you patiently waiting for the iOS app, we are having good progress with Apple and expect to post the app by the end of March.

Function Updates

We enjoy getting your many good suggestions.  One such item was “vibration control” and we’re pleased to say that, in the near future, users will be able to turn vibration on and off as needed via their app.  The Android App will include this in the coming release and iOS when released. In addition, after our first firmware upgrade, estimated to be in April or May, users will be able to vary the strength of the vibration to off, low, medium and high to suit their preferences.  More features will be announced soon.

Thanks to everyone for your patience and valuable feedback.

Hi Noor, I think that if you sign in to your Kickstarter account you can see it but I will save you some time...your order number is 722. For anyone who can't find it, no worries, just email your Kickstarter user name, your "real" name, and your email address...we should be able to find you one of those ways. -Pamela

Just got an email saying that the passport watches are further delayed. If I'm to wait I need to give my order number and KS backer name. Where can I see my order number as I can't find it in any of my emails?

    4. Martian Watches 2-time creator on

Hi Peter, That's our plan, but we are awaiting our next Passport batch plus the Victory watches will start coming in pretty soon. So hopefully we'll be able to ship some orders together...will keep everyone informed once we get the batch and see how many of each watch comes in. -Pamela

Hi Bucklew, Nothing new to report - we are still on track to ship the Victory watches by about 4/20. -Pamela

    6. Peter Nagle on

Hi - I ordered one Victory watch as well as one Passport watch. Any chance the Passport can be shipped as soon as it's available, without waiting for the Victory to be ready? Thanks! - Peter

    7. Steffen on

So any updates about the Victory models and shipping dates?

    8. Martian Watches 2-time creator on

Hi Erick, send an email through http://martianwatches.com/contact-us/ with your old address and new address, and we'll make sure to update it before we ship. -Pamela

How can I change my shipping address?

    10. Martian Watches 2-time creator on

Hi Lewis, We are still looking at the same dates as posted in this update - all Victory watches to be shipped by April 20th. We will be receiving another update from the factory next week as production moves along, so if anything changes we'll let you know! -Pamela

hi any update for us Victory backers?

    12. Martian Watches 2-time creator on

Hi Adam, Glad to hear you are enjoying your Martian! We didn't receive our full shipment of stainless steel bands but didn't want to wait to ship the watches, so we sent those first. We tried to note this on everyone's packing lists, so I apologize if we missed yours - we do know we owe you a band. As soon as the bands arrive, we'll send it on to you. -Pamela

Martian, I rechecked the Bluetooth hands-free system in my car and your engineering is right, the microphone used is in the phone (although the audio feedback plays over the bluetooth system). :(

      Damn.

Do you have any information if Google may be changing this behaviour?

    20. Martian Watches 2-time creator on

Hi Ryan. I apologize for the delay. I would love to help you get what you want. I am going to send you a private email so we can talk about which watch you would like. Thank you! - Kim

Hi, I requested a change of watch about a week ago and still have heard nothing from you guys, I understand that you probably got a lot of emails but a something indicating it was received would help... any info would be great.... thanks

fmotta: We hope to get greater vibration control via the next firmware upgrade, estimated to be late April or May. - Stan

Pete: I'm checking with our Customer Service gang on why you've heard nothing. You should rec'v a private message response tomorrow. - Stan

    24. fmotta on

OK - well I am still loving this watches functionality and ease of integration. The new Android app needs finer granularity on vib control. Thanks for adding this feature though!
      3 settings:
      - Normal
      - Very Low
      - Off

So, when this is available in an understated form I will not have everyone I see ask me about the brick on my wrist. It is not the size that catches their eye (they tell me). It is the bling. I apologize for distracting them from my presentation/talk/conversation often. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/71%2BZzq6hZgL._SL1500_.jpg is what I wear now that my old Seiko gave out. For some this may look "close enough" but not really.

    28. Martian Watches 2-time creator on

Bucklew: I checked again with engineering. They said that if GoogleNow works with the car, it should work with the watch. But they asked if you would make sure the speech recognition is really taking audio from the car microphone and not from your phone's mic. If you have your phone out of your pocket and placed somewhere close in the car, the speech recognition may seem to work but it may not be the car handling the mic input. Can you check this please?

Just got my Passport today. When I opened it I was amazed at the quality of build and appearance. Its charging now and I cant wait to play with it. Well done Martian.

    30. fmotta on

Fixed the SVOX issue with a voice reinstall (odd).
Had a problem where the A2DP was not working after I connected to the watch with the Martian app.
I re-paired and re-connected with the app (after testing the A2DP first).

    31. fmotta on

Hi, all is excellent on this watch!
I still have only had time to put it into action at its minimal level. But, it works great.

For those using AVX you might find that Android unloads it or its components and so it is sluggish (I have a VS950). So, I reverted to the standard voice dialer for now. I need to find out why it is using a funky voice when using that instead of the SVOX voice I have as its defaults.

So, iMWatch sent out an update to firmware and it still has most of the problems I posted elsewhere... :/
My MetaWatch still has the same problems despite the firmware updates I tried.

The current status with my Martian is that I am loving it and want to get past the time limits I have to finding out more about it. But, I listen to my Audible.com content, hear text messages, make and receive calls (nobody has complained about voice quality yet - and they do not know I am using the martian). Great work for what I have played with!!!

      Moe to come!

    32. Steffen on

Martian, your sure about this GoogleNow with Bluetooth Headset thing?

I can use the speech recognition over my Bluetooth hands-free system in my car. So why shouldn't it work with the Martian Headset?

    33. Martian Watches 2-time creator on

Ely: Thanks for the feedback. In the near future, users will be able to vary the vibration strength. We intend for the Android App to include at least on/off in the coming release and iOS will include it when released by the end of March. In addition, after our first firmware upgrade (estimated to be in April or May) users will be able to vary the strength of the vibration to different levels. Thanks again.

    34. Ely Marcus Eastman on

Loving my Martian (it came today, surprise!), however, the vibration is a little harsh and rattle-ey. Is anyone else experiencing this?

    35. Martian Watches 2-time creator on

Fmotta: For a complete connection with the Android App the Martian Watch needs to first be paired with your SmartPhone from the Bluetooth menu in the general settings. Once paired, enter the Martian Watch Alerts app, select the menu button, and tap “Connect to Watch”, which will complete the connection of the app to the watch. Watch functions such as Camera Mode and Find Phone should now operate. We hope this resolves the issue. - Stan

    36. Martian Watches 2-time creator on

Simon: It appears Google Now has been built to work only from the phone and cannot be used from a Bluetooth headset or our watch. It thus cannot be used as the default voice command app. - Stan

    37. Martian Watches 2-time creator on

Bucklew and Andy R: Thanks for the notes!

    38. Martian Watches 2-time creator on

Sean and Lewis: I think it's clear that we're also disappointed to have had the Victory delay. We’re at least glad that you purchased the watches at well less than half retail price while there are hundreds (soon in the thousands) of website pre-orders behind yours at the much higher prices; and that you’re getting not a beta watch but a full final-production watch. Thanks again for your patience.

    39. Martian Watches 2-time creator on

Marilyne: Yes… we're sure it's the end of March for the iOS App target. But progress is good. To be clear, unlike Android, iOS 6 is not designed to push social media and email notifications to peripheral devices, so we've devised a workaround that we're in final testing for. We may be the only company doing this and still hoping it successfully tests out to be useable for Martian iOS users. Other iOS App features will include Find Phone, World Clock and Local Weather, with the added benefit of managing those functions currently shown on the menu, including Language, Date Format, Leash, Gesture, LED and (soon) Vibration. Thanks. - Stan

    40. fmotta on

I have been playing with my Martian watch and like it a lot so far. But, I have not had a lot of time with it because of travel. I hope to have a bit of time this week. So far I like it. But, the app seems to not want to do anything with my VS950. The watch says "App not connected" for a few options.

    41. Simon on

is there a way for the button to be set for google now instead of google voice dial?

      LO Down Brown on

like others i'm caught up in early bird victory delay. From a Jan estimation to seeming so positive we're looking at almost a 5 month delay that is still not 100% concrete. I will still need to wait for it to arrive in UK and clear customs so i'm sure it will be May.

If i was to order one today from the web store i'd get it the same time as my order at the start of september. As Sean Ormsby has suggested is there nothing you can do to ease the pain?

was the Victory the additional model, the engagement with social media a step too far?

Thanks. I know y'all are doing you're best. Woo soon.

      Thx @ Martian.

I hope it is worth the waiting :) But I am pretty sure it will. Can't wait for it.

    45. Sean Ormsby on

*sigh*' How about throwing a bone to us early bird Victory watch backers who backed the wrong horse (model) and as a result end up as the worm. A free extra band? Upgraded shipping?

    46. Marilyne Constantin on

Good news for the vibration control!
But you expect to post the iOS app by the end of March?! Are you sure it's not the end of February?
      It's too long :(
I can't wait, i'm totally in love of my watch ;)

    47. Martian Watches 2-time creator on

Bucklew and Pete: (Stan Kinsey here as Pam's out for a week...)
Yes... Victory models will start shipping at the end of March, but we don't want to mislead... most will ship mid-April (Early Birds shipping first) with our belief that shipping will be completed by April 20.

    48. Steffen on

So the Victory models for Early-Birds are going to be shipped sometime starting from end of March?
