The Synthetics #0 is a 32-page color comic about an android sex worker on Mars!
After one of her customers shows her a movie about evil robots, she explores how often robots revolt against organic Martians in those Martians' own fiction... and she begins to wonder whether these stories speak to a desire for robot domination.
WARNING: SEXUAL THEMES. In terms of content, consider this comic on par with HBO dramas.
The comic is written by Julian Darius, illustrated and colored by Cloves Rodrigues, and lettered by Darius and Steven Legge.
One year ago, we offered The Synthetics #1 in print for Kickstarter's "Make 100" campaign. We were blown away by the response! So we thought we'd offer this cool prequel comic in the same format. We're limiting the total number of printed copies to 100, in order to participate in Kickstarter's Make 100 program. Every single printed copy will be signed and numbered by writer Julian Darius.
Although this is a prequel issue, it works on its own.
The revenue, after fees, will go to pay printing and shipping costs. Everything beyond that will go to help us pay our artists.
If you just want the new Synthetics #0 in digital, you can get it for $3. Every pledge helps and means the world to us!
If you want the new issue and Synthetics #1 in digital, you can get both for $7. That's 76 pages of crazy robots doing crazy stuff on Mars, plus bonus art and extras!
If you want the new Synthetics #0 in print, you can get it -- as a signed-and-numbered limited edition(!) and with a complementary digital copy -- for $10.
If you want the new Synthetics #0 in the same limited print edition and also want issue #1 in digital, you can get that for $12.
You can get every issue we've done digitally -- Synthetics #0 plus 21 other comics (710 original pages of comics, a $76 value!) -- for just $38! And while supplies last, the first few can get this reward for a mere $28!
If you want this huge digital bundle and also the new Synthetics #0 limited print edition, you can get all of that for $45!
We've also got just a few copies remaining from last year's Kickstarter of the signed-and-numbered limited print edition of The Synthetics #1. For $65, we'll give you one, along with the signed-and-numbered limited print edition of issue #0, and the digital bundle containing all 22 comics!
Finally, for $100, artist Cloves Rodrigues will illustrate a black-and-white commission piece of your choice. You'll get the resulting art digitally, which you can use however you want, and he'll mail you the original art! Plus, you'll get the signed-and-numbered limited print edition of issue #0 and the digital bundle containing all 22 comics!
Writer and editor Julian Darius is the founder of Sequart Organization, which has promoted comics and pop culture as legitimate forms of art since 1996. He holds a Ph.D. in English and an M.A. in French. He lives in Illinois.
Artist and colorist Cloves Rodrigues has worked professionally in independent comics since 2004, including work in Martian Comics #12-15. He's 37 and lives in Brazil.
Letterer Steven Legge is a self-taught artist who likes coffee, cats, his kids, and working regularly. He colors Steve Rude's Nexus Newspaper, which will be released in book form by Dark Horse Comics later this year.
