About this project
In January of 2009 I began recording my 6th CD project The Goodbye Party. It is the first record with my new band and a new direction for me musically. The making of this disc involved several local studios, arrangers, artists, and musicians. We featured string and horn sections from the Winston-Salem Symphony and University of North Carolina School of the Arts. We've recorded 12 original songs, all of which were written either by me, my band members, or a close songwriter friend.
We've posted four of these songs for you to hear now:

So far, I've paid most of the expenses out of pocket. Now I'm asking for your help in raising the final $7500 through Kickstarter. That amount will pay for the remaining recording costs, mastering, duplication, and graphic design. The tracks have been recorded and mixed. We have engaged a graphic designer and mastering engineer. We have a plan for promotion and tour support. Raising the final $7500 will enable us to begin our tour in the black.
In the event that we raise more than our $7500 goal, the extra money will help purchase a touring vehicle. We plan to be on the road by late spring.
We're offering some fun rewards for your generosity...particularly the March 8 party and the gospel disc The Sweet By and By. Since I released Mortal Flesh in 2005, folks have been asking for another gospel recording, and well, here it is! An acoustic rendering of some old-time gospel songs, with a cameo from my sister. These will be artfully packaged, and only 100 copies will ever be pressed.
Many of you have followed and supported my career for years. To show my appreciation, we're throwing a special party and concert on March 8 for those of you who help us at the $150 (or more) donor level. The party will be held at Mack and Mack, 220 South Elm Street in Greensboro, NC. Wine and light hors d'oeuvres provided. I hope you'll join us.
If this is your first time hearing my music, welcome to the party! I hope you'll keep in touch with me at my website and follow our tour schedule. If you really want to learn more about me, be a donor at the $250 or more level and see what's in the basket of goodies from my garden and pantry...it could include jam, pickles, bread, home-cured olives, soft cheese, herb-infused oils and vinegars, mustards, or sweet butter. I'm also a beekeeper with three hives and have just started a small shitake mushroom farm. But you'll have to wait for these.
Thanks for your help!
