OUR GOAL: COMPLETE POST-PRODUCTION
We took a huge risk when we began
this process. We were fortunate to have a great script, talented people and
enough money to get us through the production stage of the process.
Post-Production however was not there. We could have waited, hoping to raise
the money in the traditional ways, but we had a very unique window of time and a
committed group of experienced and passionate people willing to shoot. So we
just did it. The result… the film LOOKS AMAZING!! Our DP,
Steve Romano did a fantastic job lighting this to make it look, well, like we
didn't light it.

Synopsis - When a suburban couple hires a new age spiritualist to help with their troubled marriage, her advice to video their lives 24/7 to help reunite the family, turns out to reveal their son is having conversations with an unseen entity, calling itself the Night Visitor.
The Night Visitor, is a sci-fi/horror feature film produced by Blanc/Biehn Productions, Lony Ruhmann and Mark Gantt (THE BANNEN WAY), directed by actress/producer Jennifer Blanc-Biehn (DARK ANGEL, WRONG COPS), in her directorial debut. The script, written by The Marcus Brothers (HIDDEN IN THE WOODS – Remake, THE FARM), was conceived by Executive Producer, Lony Ruhmann. We feel we've approached the genre and this style of film making with integrity and artistic style. With top talent in front of the camera and behind, we've designed a film that is not like the others. This is as much about a family struggling to stay together as it is a thrilling and scary ride.

MARK'S SIDE OF THE STORY
On March 25th, my girlfriend, Brianne Davis, got a call from a friend of ours, Jennifer Blanc-Biehn. Jennifer was excited to tell her that she had an amazing opportunity; a chance to direct her first feature, a sci-fi/horror film, THE NIGHT VISITOR. She had a little money, great story, six day window to shoot it and wanted Brianne to play the lead. Jen also said, “There’s a part for Mark too, hey maybe he’d want to produce it?” Oh and she wanted to start shooting April 4th, which was in thirteen days.
Now most people, most sane people, would find a million reasons not to do this project, the sheer idea of shooting a feature in six days, with less than two weeks to prep and not one role cast or one crew person hired, is cause for pause. But the thing about Jen is, she’s a force of nature. She has an amazing heart and a passion to take a film from production to distribution like nobody I’ve ever met.
Within two weeks of that initial call, we were shooting. We assembled an incredibly talented crew who were willing to work for very little upfront and deferred payment on the back-end. Brianne jumped on as a Co-Executive Producer with Jen and they superbly cast the most awesome actors.
Jennifer recently started a production company Blanc Biehn Productions with her partner, Michael Biehn (THE TERMINATOR, ALIENS). In just a short time, they’ve already produced and distributed THE VICTIM , directed by Michael and in post on TREACHERY, written and directed by Travis Romero (WHITE COLLAR, HAWAII, THE VICTIM). Michael and Jen are currently in pre-production on the English remake of the Chilean horror film, HIDDEN IN THE WOODS, which Michael will star opposite William Forsythe (THE ROCK, BOARDWALK EMPIRE), filming begins in Texas this June.
Jen did a stellar job on her maiden voyage and the three of us really worked well together. (yes... even though both Jen and Brianne are born on the same day -- The Taurus Twins)

WHERE THE MONEY IS GOING
As most people know, making a film costs money. We have an incredible group of people working on the post-production and are hustling to make it as great as it can be. And they're doing it for a LOT less than a responsible person should charge. But they are passionate about the project and believe in it and us. However... we need to pay them. Once the film is completed, we've got to get into the hands of the people that can distribute it. All this costs dough.
Here's where the money is going:
Final Editing of the project
Sound Design and Foley
Marketing Materials – poster, postcards, website design
Film Festival Submissions
Unexpected production overages

Risks and challenges
FAST, CHEAP OR GOOD
On one of my first projects, my line-producer handed me the budget and said, “You have to decide what you want, Fast, Cheap or Good… pick two.” It became clear to me then that the biggest challenge for any filmmaker but especially indie filmmakers is how to make the best project possible with the resources you have. On The Night Visitor we started with a great script, an amazing team behind and in front of the camera but the ‘funds’ part… well, I mean, here we are. We’ve got an amazing post team currently working on the film, but they need to get paid. That’s why we’re here. We are so excited about this project and know it’s going to turn out great.
THE HOLY GRAIL
Some of the toughest challenges after post-production are distribution and getting people to be aware of and watch your film. We’ve got a great PR firm working with Blanc Biehn Productions and great sales agents already working hard on our past, current and future projects. We’re putting our best foot forward with the key art, teaser trailer and final product to insure that we’re positioning ourselves properly in the market place.
I've been told by many people over and over -- "If you want to make a lot of money, get out of the film business." Well there's definitely some truth to that. My goal, our goal, is to make films that we want to see and do them at a price point that everyone can get paid and NOT WAIT FOR SOMEONE TO GIVE US PERMISSION.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
We've got our editor working on the cut of the film, a trailer editor working on a teaser and our VFX wizard setting looks, effects and color grading tests. Post-Production can be a tedious process with so many moving parts. We want to make sure anything that we release looks the best it can be. We're pushing to get the teaser trailer done in the next week to two weeks. Stay tuned and thanks for the support!
