All Are Family is the first of several books, to meet the need for positive, quality children's literature. My vision is to publish and provide a wide distribution of books that support families in their quest to instill connection, compassion, love, respect, empathy, emotional intelligence and gentle communication within themselves and those they love. All Are Family communicates a message of love for humanity, one where we recognize and respect the beauty and diversity around us, embrace others and contemplate the fact we All Are Family.
As my debut children’s book, All Are Family, is 28 pages of flowing verse and endearing artwork. The illustrations, by veteran artist Matt Kaufman, effectively capture and celebrate our global family. The first edition of this book will be launched in an 8” x 10” hardcover. The printing will be done, in the United States, by an industry leading press. The book will also be converted to eReader formats so it can be conveniently enjoyed anywhere, anytime. The story is written. The illustrations are under way.
All this book needs is a little help from the Kickstarter community and anyone who desires to nurture connection, compassion, love, respect and empathy within our world. The funds collected will be used to pay for illustrations, digital formatting, eReader conversion, Kickstarter rewards and towards a print run of a minimum of 500 copies for charity, retail and promotion.
Many of us are aware of the effects the media plays upon the lives of our children. Personality, character, perception, actions, emotions and values are all greatly affected by the images and words we are exposed to in our daily lives. Parents often place a close eye upon television, movies and advertising while forgetting the impact written words and pictures, in the form of a book, can also make in a child's world. Many big publishing companies put money before matter, profits before the person. As a result, what we often see are hyper-commercialized characters that undermine our intentions and efforts as conscious parents.
Exploring the avenues of the publishing world, I discovered an author of today has two main routes to consider, conventional publishing or self publishing. Both methods have been around for decades, but one - self publishing - has undergone major advances over the past years. Self publishing offers me the opportunity to bring my vision to full realization without compromising. I have full control over the story, illustrations and marketing of my books. I can oversee the process, ensuring that the important values I communicate through my writing are not candy-coated with the commercialized icons that are so common in the publishing world today. Out of this desire was born Little Linden Press.
Although, written and illustrated with the appeal and needs of children, ages 2-6, in mind, the bold artwork paired with gentle verse is a feast for all ages. Young children, teens, adults, families, congregations, schools and communities will benefit from the experience of reflecting on the diversity and beauty among families everywhere.
The Author and Artist
Marissa Bloom, emerging children’s author, spends her days with her husband and two young children - playing, eating, napping, exploring, creating catastrophic messes and almost usually cleaning them up. Among all this activity, she volunteers her knowledge, and an ear, supporting families through their breastfeeding journey and incorporating gentle parenting practices into their lives. She finds joy inspiring family, friends and unsuspecting bystanders to seek kindness and beauty within themselves and others. She is co-founder, with husband Benny, of Little Linden Press, an independent publishing company that began as a means to publish her books; but one with an ever growing vision. Marissa Bloom encourages everyone to seek out knowledge, truth and understanding; to aspire to wisdom and enlightenment.

Take a look at the right sidebar to discover all the great rewards we have for our supporters. Here is some info on a couple of these items:
The Hardcover Book: The star of the campaign. The book will be an 8x10 hardcover high-quality print. When was the last time you had the pleasure of cracking open a brand new book?
The Hand-Beaded Bookmark: I once received a hand-beaded bookmark as a gift. I found it so beautiful and useful that I wanted to make a unique version for my Kickstarter supporters. I will personally hand bead each bookmark, with the help of my family. The beads, purchased locally, are direct-trade from cultures around the world. Materials are naturally derived and include hemp, wool, wood, paper, glass and stone. Included with the bookmark will be a note explaining where each bead originated from.
The Tote: I'll admit it, I really [really really really] like tote bags; add a logo or graphic from a business or cause I believe in and you can bet I'll proudly be sporting it around town. Honestly, I may or may not have come up with this particular reward just for myself (I've been itching for another tote!). All kidding aside, these totes are truly fabulous. 100% American-made, each bag is individually cut and hand-stitched by a family-owned company. To go even further, these bags are made of 100% recycled cotton! The screen-printing will be done by a local printer, using Matt's (Remember him? He's the illustrator.) custom design.
The Carved Art: I am excited to offer this special deal from a fellow backer and my long-time friend, Ryan, of Dv8 Designs. He has crafted a router-carved art piece based on Matt Kaufman's charming original illustration from the book. These wall hangings are 40.5" wide x 11" tall x 1" thick. They are made of high-quality solid pine and come with the hanging hardware pre-installed. After carving, each piece is hand painted, sanded and finished. I feel honored to offer this beautiful work of art as a reward. We will most certainly be ordering one for our home. Look for it at the $100 reward level. Includes shipping and a signed Hardcover book.
The Giclee Print: Wish you had one of Matt's charming illustrations adorning your wall? I do! These fine-art prints might be the answer you're looking for. A 20x30 illustration, of your choice, printed locally on archival museum-quality bamboo paper - beautiful AND eco-friendly! Each piece will be without text; numbered and signed by the illustrator. After the project has funded, you will be contacted and given private access to view all illustrations. From there you can choose your favorite.
The Gallery-Wrapped Canvas: You say you'd like a print but canvas is more your style? You're in luck, this is the reward for you! A 20x30 illustration, of your choice, printed locally on museum-grade gallery-wrapped canvas. Each piece will be without text; numbered and signed by the illustrator. After the project has funded, you will be contacted and given private access to view all illustrations. From there you can choose your favorite.
We have 30 days to work together to meet our goal. If we fail to reach our goal within the 30 day period, no one pays, no money changes hands, no one gets the book. We want your help. Let your friends and family know about how important this is to you, to them and to our world.
I feel such gratitude for this opportunity. Thank you to those who make Kickstarter possible and to all of you who have stepped up and taken a role to share in a passion and a vision to greatly impact our communities for the better.
