If we reach $55,000 I can afford to master the record and get additional artwork for a vinyl version of the album. But you don't buy it now, you buy it when the record comes out. All Kickstarter backers at every level can get it just about at cost.
You as a backer get an exclusive discount, vinyl will cost about $33-38 plus shipping for you -- non-backers will probably pay $55-70 for the same record.
So you're not purchasing the vinyl now, you're making the vinyl version **exist** and getting it at cost when it comes into the world. If you pledge now at the $5 level and then buy on vinyl you'll save a lot.
**Why not sell vinyl pre-orders now thru the Kickstarter?**
1) I promised no add-ons or new reward tiers,
2) if you order but we don't hit $55k it doesn't work,
3) because Kickstarter math is weird (http://mariancall.com/kickstarter-math-is-weird/), I'd have to mark up the vinyl at least 70-100% for you guys, and I would still barely be clearing the overall project budget.
Better to save you and me tons of $$$ by doing it like this!
Delivery details: You'll be able to purchase vinyl when the record is complete and I have a final quote. I'll take orders during a 2-month window when we get to that point, you'll get a direct invitation to buy then if you want (with your discount).
I might have to leave off a song or two, since LP's are short, but the record will flow like records should -- it will sound amazing -- and you will also get a FLAC download of all the album content plus bonus material, commentaries, etc.
