About this project
Dates is an anthology of queer historical fiction stories. We've gathered over 30 creators together to create almost 30 stories and illustrations about queer people living life throughout time and across the world. Dates has over 170 pages of brand new content with beautiful full-color comic covers and illustrations, black and white comic pages, and even two short prose stories! The art is all ready to go, but we need your help to fund printing and pay the artists and writers!
Dates is a celebration of queer lives and history throughout the world. Although queer identities have existed throughout time, often historical fiction skips over queer people altogether or subjects queer characters to extreme hardship, loneliness, and unhappy endings. Dates is different. In this anthology, you will find a young trans man affirmed by his peers in Joseon Dynasty Korea; two women in loving, happy relationships with both each other and their husbands in 1100s Denmark; a trans woman dressmaker and her lover dancing in Napoleonic France; and more.
Dates was born out of the desire to see queer people like us in happy situations. The anthology is a collection of over 20 comics, 10 illustrations, and 2 prose stories that are perfect for people who are 13 or older and are history enthusiasts, LGBTQ+, or just interested a side of the past that’s been relegated to the margins of the history books. More than anything else, Dates is an anthology of affirmation and acceptance. Please help us bring it to life!

This Kickstarter's primary goals are to raise money to print Dates, a 170+ page, perfect-bound, 6"x9" paperback book, and pay our contributors.
Here is the budget for our base goal:
In our funding goal of $10,000:
- $3,600 will go towards paying our contributors
- $3,650 will go towards proofing and printing the books
- $1,300 will go towards shipping books to backers
- $350 will go towards paying for and shipping other backer rewards
- $1000 will go towards Kickstarter fees
- $100 will be wiggle-room
As we hit each stretch goal, we'll be able to increase payment for our contributors and offer bigger, better backer rewards packages.

Risks and challenges
The greatest risks in any printing project are delays relating to printing and distribution. All our art is finished, we have our printers lined up for books & backer rewards, and all that’s left to do is put the book together and go to print. If any delays do occur, we will make sure to notify backers as soon as we can.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
