About this project
The Lone Wolf LP is a very personal album for me. As the name implies, it's a narrative of loneness...but not loneliness. Oftentimes people confuse the two.
You can be one without the other.
When I moved to Tokyo, it was the first time I'd ever felt truly alone. Funny, that one would feel most alone in the most densely populated city in the world; but I did, and it wasn't a bad thing. It inspired me and tested my resolve as an individual. It taught me to be OK with standing out, even in a society that seems to condemn it. I learned and I grew musically, but more importantly I grew as a human being...and this project is the testament of that growth.
The Lone Wolf LP was partially funded along with the Simply Complex Kickstarter campaign, and the album is already finished and in the mixing stage (which means less waiting for all of you). If you already pledged for the SC/Lone Wolf LP Kickstarter and pledged high enough to receive the digital download or physical copy ($60 and up, which was about 5-7 people), then you've already done your part in helping make this project happen. Therefore, there will be individual perk options for those of you who already pledged for a certain item.
This goal of this campaign is to press two 7" vinyl singles consisting of songs from The Lone Wolf LP.
For those that aren't familiar, 7" vinyls are the baby brother of the 12" vinyls. They hold 2 songs on the A-side and two songs on the B-side. The songs chosen for the vinyl will have the original mix along with the instrumental version.
Sonically, the album is a continuation/evolution of the sound of Melancholy Hopeful, so it's only natural that at least some of the same collaborators from that album would be featured. In addition, the Lone Wolf roster consists almost solely of artists who have some type of connection to the Tokyo hip hop scene.
The funding breakdown is provided below:
- ~$1800 for the pressing of the 7" vinyl (x2).
- ~$450 to Amazon/Kickstarter's 10% fee.
- ~$500 for jacket art
- The rest (if there's any left) will be used for shipping.
I owe my livelihood to my fans and supporters. Good fans keep this music ish fun.
Risks and challenges
International shipping is always a risk and a challenge. With almost every Kickstarter I've done, the mail service somehow finds a way to lose packages. When the packages are international, this could increase the wait time two fold at least.
Keep me posted via Kickstarter messenger when you receive your package, we'll do our best to combat the mistakes of the US Postal Service.
