Bare-The New Album by Marci Geller
My newest album will be called "Bare" for a multitude of reasons. I'm stripping myself emotionally bare because...we're brave enough.
This project will only be funded if it reaches its goal by Wed, April 10 2019 1:00 AM UTC +00:00.
Bare, the new album...
Everyone has challenges but we tend to hide our messes and only show the world what's shiny and perfect. Well, this album bares the perfectly imperfect. I drew from elements of folk, jazz, country and a little bit of classical to portray this story. I wrote you the soundtrack. My hope is that it inspires you to take chances, and to be real.
Who added their talent to this labor of love?
Then I enlisted my Uber talented friend Deni Bonet to arrange and perform strings on three of the songs; All This Is Free, It's the Rain & Playing the Grownup.
Ray DeTone, a long-time friend that I've never worked with before crafted some sultry, "sweaty" electric guitar for "Red Wine and Chocolate."
I was introduced to a very talented young woman Bella Colombo who is now a featured vocalist on "After the Flood—Then I gathered up my fabulously talented friends for a "Big Sing" on this gospel-influenced tune. What a profoundly beautiful experience to unite the voices of my husband Gianni, John Tabacco, Rorie Kelly and Roberta Fabiano!
The only thing missing was the sweet and passionate cello playing of Rebecca Perea. She added such beauty to "Joy Is."
Of course, I couldn't let Gianni only sing on one tune, so we do a sweet duet on "Last Kid Picked for the Team," he does some whistling, and brought me to tears with his trumpet playing on "Replaced By Stars.
Now I can't wait to share this with YOU!
What I Need & What You Get
As I mentioned in the video, I put up my own money to start the recording. Now I need the rest of the budget in order to finish the album, get it mastered, pressed, etc. There's also artwork and photos for the CD, postage to mail it out to backers and to radio.
I'm projecting postage will cost upwards of $3000 this time around. Then, of course, there's the marketing to get the word out. There's no sense in making an album if I don't have the budget to get the word out. It involves publicity, press, touring, and more. It costs a lot of money to share music with the world.
What we will accomplish
I truly believe that many of you out there are struggling. My goal is to prove to you that you're not alone. This music is from the depths of my heart and the expanse of my soul. Music is how I connect with the world and I hope it makes you feel a little more connected.
I thought you might appreciate some photos of rewards. I'll keep updating as they become realized:
Risks and challenges
The only risk is being a believer in the indie troubadour. I know this album will happen. Sometimes unexpected acts-of-God can delay things a little, but I am confident we will be able to provide all the rewards you choose.
The biggest challenge is shipping. I've had a lot of issues with things not making it to their destination, especially overseas, but you have my word that I will investigate and choose the most reliable methods to get items to you, even if I take a loss on the cost.Learn about accountability on Kickstarter
